the sign of night

and lions roar

why do plants grow

and pets die

and grannies wrinkle

and mommies cry

why learn to read

or read to learn

or learn to think

or think and burn

and spurn and yearn

and fret and weep

and long and lose

and sow and reap

why care and love

or fear and hate

why believe in

free will or fate

why God or gods

or devils and demons

when all good and evil

flows from humans

why seek answers

that end with a sigh

why try and survive

why live to just die?
