Challenge
The senses of sight, hearing, smell and taste can be reduced down to and subsumed by the master sense of touch. Write about touch or use its description in a poem or brief story.
Your Fingers Dance With Moonbeams
You gulp the breaths that I exhale
feel the beating of my heart
from wherever you are,
outstretched hands from afar.
I yearn to be your undershirt
so I can feel your silken skin,
You touch parts of me
that I thought were impregnable.
Your fingers dance with moonbeams
reflected through my windows,
the deepest part of my memory.
Your spirit flows into my veins
caresses my body down to sweet earth.
Your touch raises me up once again
to my heaven with your Midas touch,
golden feeling trembling within,
a gilded paintbrush on my canvas
painting a flower reaching
for the sun’s embrace on my wrapper,
peeled back to reveal the ocean sounds.
Music of the crashing sea reminds me
that your touch
will resonate forever in my mind.
