Into the night
The slight imperfections of the glass panes send the eager orange light bouncing in every direction. Even with the insulation of the old home's embrace, the rays dance across my face and warm every inch.
Reality warps in and out as the sun descends below the horizontal plane; only his shoulder against my head, his hand in mine, and the occasional remark on the beauty of this moment-the remarkable nature of the absolute perfection in this alignment-remind me of our physical presence.
The skies are setting the world on fire just for us, and we quietly admire the show. The silence sings more truth than any song has. Lifetimes pass us by until finally the darkness settles.
At first, there is hesitation, uncertainty. And then, with open hands and open hearts, a new adventure, another realm to experience. This is what life is.
