Toxic People
Toxic people
Spreading toxic lies
Whispered softly into listening ears
Disparaging others sowing fears
Planting seeds of discontent
Is something they seem to do a lot
They get their greatest satisfaction
By quietly stirring up that pot
They really thrive by ruining
The lives of their listening peers
Tragically receiving satisfaction
By bringing so many to tears
Often motivated by wealth and fortune
Driven by craving notoriety and fame
Chasing shallow empty dreams
The results seem always the same
They never are truly satisfied
Lacking something crucial in their soul
Elusively chasing all that glitters
Trying to fill that bottomless hole
Toxic people crave attention
What they get is never enough
Trying to climb their ladder of success
By Backstabbing other and playing tough
Where their heart should be is a dark empty hole
A chasm unfilled and cold
Only feelings of envy and hatred live there
Like a festering unhealthy mold
They believe by hurting those they know
Or by stabbing colleagues in the back
Will somehow make their peers to fear them
Or get them a conquest in the sack
These desperate toxic people
See love as just a one-way street
Only wanting affection on their terms
Almost as if it was a deserved treat
Toxic people take many forms
To look at them you might not know
Until they try to take over your life
Because they think they can run your show
Sometimes they present as narcissists
Other times they are bullies too
Sometimes they play as manipulators
What they seem to have no clue
Hurting others they take great pride
Who they hurt they really don’t care
So do you best to avoid them
You’ve been warned, now stay aware!
