Wash, Rinse, Repeat

It isn’t often that I represent

Someone who cares

Where the money’s spent, but I

Prefer results more than philosophies

Good intentions don’t mean much to me

A little bit jaded, somewhat out of touch

Political correctness doesn’t matter much

And I

Understand you better than you know

Because I’ve been there

And there isn’t much to show

As the years went by

I saw the changes happen

And I didn’t ask why

They were changing

As I turned the page

To become relegated

To a bygone age

And it’s rough

I know that I’m not the only one

It’s tough to see it happen

Watch it all undone

You’re only young once

And then we all will die

It really happens in the blink of an eye

and then

I go to light up a cigarette

My childhood dead

And much to my regret, I find

The world, it never belonged to me

An inherited lot left overgrown in weeds
