Promises

I promised my best friend

I would walk in love;

I told her I would do my best

And try not to let her down.

She always told me she believed in me,

Knew God had a special plan,

And she told me she prayed for me.

Now my best friend is gone;

I'm alone on earth, waiting

Till it's my turn to join her

And God in Heaven.

I try to prove I didn't lie,

Try to keep my promises.

But she broke one of hers to me-

She said she'd always be there for me.

I'm still a little angry

And sometimes I let her down,

But I know she knows I love her

And I miss her every day.
