Chapter 1
"Mileyna! Again!" Mr. Smith shouted, slamming his clipboard on the glass table in front of him.
I huffed, bending over with my hands on my knees to catch my breath. I held up a finger.
"Hold on Mr. S give me one minute." I took in a deep breath and stood up straight. Mr. Smith rolled his eyes.
"You are wasting my time! Try again and you better not miss this time." he warned me. I crossed my arms and let out a short laugh.
"Or what?" I raised my eyebrows, challenging him. He raised his eyebrows back and chuckled shaking his head.
"Just don't miss the target. Let's go, you've had enough time to catch your breath." He pressed the button on the table and the simulation started over again.
I sighed and straightened out my uniform, an all black tight material that hugged my body in all the right places. It was light enough so that I could dodge and run faster from my enemies.
The lights dimmed and I closed my eyes, waiting for Mr. Smith to choose a place. I heard a humming sound indicating that he chose a place and I opened my eyes, watching the scenery change from windows and doors to the grass and trees.
The sun was shining bright and I looked around. I was surrounded by trees and I heard birds chirping and the crunching of the leaves on the dirt ground as small animals scurried through the forest.
This was a different simulation than the last one which was nighttime and in an abandoned parking lot. My job in the last simulation was to kill the leader of the people that were coming at me. I would know if they were the leader because he or she would have a red mark on their forehead.
"Hehehe" I whipped my head to the right, where I heard the giggling noises.
"Hehehe" I heard it again to my left and crouched, slowly backing up. I squinted into the trees, looking for the source of the sound.
As I was searching, I clutched my gun that was on my side, ready for anything.
Suddenly, a pair of glowing eyes appeared in the trees and I heard a hissing noise. I whipped my gun out and aimed it at the eyes. I closed my eyes and started shooting.
I heard a squeal and opened my eyes, suddenly surrounded by other assassins, ready to kill me. My eyes darted left and right, looking for an escape. I found none so I jumped up and smashed my feet into the faces of the people on the side of me. They stumbled backwards and I pulled out another gun, shooting the two people in front of me.
I heard the bodies drop and I ran, not even waiting to see if they were alive or not. As I ran, branches whipped at my face, creating scratch marks that I would tend to later. I hopped over roots and shot at animals that tried to attack me.
Once I was sure I wasn't being chased anymore, I slowed down to catch my breath. This is easier than I thought. After I kill four people, the leader is supposed to appear and try to kill me.
Ten minutes passed by and there was still no sign of the leader. I got tired of waiting and got up from where I was sitting and started walking back towards the place I started at.
As I was walking I heard a twig behind me snap. I whipped around and aimed my gun at the air. No one was there. I narrowed my eyes, and turned back around, walking a little bit faster.
Suddenly I was pulled from behind and I elbowed the person that grabbed me.
"Oof," the person lost their breath and I turned around, ready to fight. It was a blond man, with a red dot on his forehead. The leader. I aimed my gun at him and pulled the trigger. I head a click and no bullet left my gun.
"Shit!" I was out of ammo. The man smiled at me and charged my way. I slipped a knife out of my boot and flung it at the man. The knife hit his shoulder and he cried out, falling backwards.
I ran towards him and jumped on top of him, yanking the knife out of his shoulder. He screamed and I held the knife over his head, getting ready to kill him. He swung his legs across my body and flipped me over, pinning me on the ground. The knife flew out of my hand and he grabbed it, preparing to stab me in the heart.
I stopped his hands before the knife could touch me, but he was too strong and the knife got closer and closer to me. I strained to keep the knife away from me and my sweat started spilling into my eyes, burning them.
"No no no, come on!" I yelled, still straining against the man. I lifted up my leg and kneed him in the groin, weakening him for a few seconds. I pushed him up, and scrambled backwards away from him as fast as possible.
He recovered from the pain and ran towards me and jumped up in the air with the knife in his hand. He was going to land on me. I covered my face and screamed.
"Mileyna! Mileyna! Open your eyes, stop screaming!" I heard Mr. Smith shout. I slowly opened my eyes and peeked from under my fingers. My heart was racing and I was breathing hard. I looked around and saw that the simulation was over and I was back in the training room.
I sat up and ran my fingers through my dark brown hair, not wanting to look at Mr. Smith. I knew I failed again and I didn't know what was going to happen to me. This was my third attempt at passing this test and I failed all three times. I wanted to become an assassin and this was the last stage to become one. To be honest, I wasn't even a good assassin and barely passed my other tests. I was too much of a coward to be a real assassin. But it's what I love, and now I don't even know if I will ever be one.
"Mileyna." Mr. Smith called me. I looked up at him and saw the disappointment in his eyes. He got up from the table and opened the door. He walked to me and gave me the paper off of his clipboard.
I took the paper and looked at it. Fail was written in red and my heart sank.
"Please Mr. S please, is there anything I could do to pass? I really really want this! I haven't wanted anything as much as I want to become an assassin. Please." I pleaded, trying not to cry. I really wanted this, I would do anything to pass.
Mr. Smith sighed and closed his eyes. He tapped his clipboard and opened his eyes.
"Okay fine. Since you were such a great student, attitude wise, I will give you an opportunity that no one has ever been offered before." Mr. Smith paused, taking in deep breath. "I will assign you to the best assassin that has ever graduated from Fight Academy. You will be taught everything all over again from the beginning, and when you have mastered each level, I will get your results and you will become an assassin. That is, if you pass. If you don't pass, there is nothing you can do to become an assassin. Understand?"
I jumped up and hugged him.
"Yes! Yes yes I understand! Thank you thank you thank you so much! Mr. S you are the best ever!" I squealed, jumping up and down. He was caught off guard, but smiled and hugged me back.
"You're welcome. But I have to tell you, this assassin is a very hard teacher and doesn't have time for any fooling around. I know you love to have fun with your work, but with this person, you have to be serious and always bring your A game, or he will not continue to teach you. No one has ever lasted more than a week of training with him."
I gasped.
"Why not?" I asked, debating whether I should take this opportunity or not.
"Because, they all quit after a week. They couldn't deal with his ways of teaching. You have to have a backbone to deal with him. I hope you can handle it." He told me.
I straightened my back and nodded.
"I can handle this. I will take this opportunity and I will not fail." I promised.
Mr. Smith took the paper back from me and wrote something on it.
"Here, take this and give it to the workers at the front and tell them to give you the assassins cell phone number and address. They will tell you when you will start your training." He gave me the paper back and I saw that he wrote "top secret" on the paper.
I smiled and hugged him one last time.
"Thanks so much Mr. S. I will make you proud." He patted me back and we walked out of the simulation room and into the hallways.
"Good luck to you Mileyna." He said to me and then walked away to his next class. I walked to the front of the building and made my way over to the front desk.
"Ley! How did it go?" Stormee, my best friend jogged next to me as I walked up to the front desk. I gave them the paper and glanced at her, giving her the look.
"Aw no! You didn't pass again?" she whispered, placing her hand on my shoulder. I shook me head.
"No, but Mr. S is giving me another opportunity. He's assigning me to train with the best assassin that ever graduated from Fight Academy. I don't know who the person is, but I look forward to working with them."
Stormee gasped and her mouth dropped. I was about to ask her what was wrong but then the people at the front deck interrupted.
"Mileyna Raine Williams?" the lady asked. I smiled at her and nodded.
"Yes, thats me." She smiled back and handed me a folder.
"Here is the contact information and address that you need. Good luck." she said, looking at me with pity.
"Ley, is this real?" Stormee asked me. I looked at her confused.
"What do you mean?" I asked her as we walked out of the door and into the parking lot.
"You really don't know who you are about to work for do you?" she asked me in a frightened tone, eyes wide in shock.
I shook my head.
"No, who am I working for?" I asked her. I opened up my folder and gasped as light brown, hard eyes stared back at me.
"The professional assassin, Justin Bieber." I dropped my folder.
