Not Moving On

She smiled at him but he kept turning away.

She tried to reach out but he just wouldn't put his walls down.

They are no longer themselves.

Not the person they once knew and loved.

But she can tell, at least for herself,

she is very happy.

And if the distance and animosity can no longer be cured by friendship then it's best

that their now will just be awkwardly beautiful.
