Challenge
There's an idea in folklore that says you should never answer a voice calling your name unless you can see who is speaking. Why not? What will happen to you? Who or what will you see or hear? Write a piece of flash fiction based on this folkloric idea. Be as creative as you like and feel free to use traditional folklore or make up your own completely new ideas. Feel free also to explore hybrid genres and to stray from mainstream paranormal themes.
And she called her name
"Saraaaah"
The voice was as soft as a sigh and called the little girl from her bed.
"Saraaahh"
It came from the forest not far from her window. She went out to see who it was, but it was too dark to see far.
"Sarah"
She went abit closer to the trees. Someone was sitting against one. Their features covered in shadow.
"Sarah"
It sounded happy to see her.
"Sarah"
It reached it's pale, thin hands out to her, welcoming her in. When she drew close, it took the girls face in her hands and pulled her closer to its bloated body.
"Sarah"
The girl tried to struggle, but it was too late. She was drawn into its hollow eyes. Drawn into its jawless, gaping mouth for one final kiss.
"Sarah"
