Little Miss
"Little Miss" by Sugarland. When I first heard it, just after its release in November 2010, I was starting over after my divorce from my 2nd ex who was not a nice person and did some serious damage. While the entire song is me, the second verse resonates the most:
Little miss, do your best
Little miss, never rest
Little miss, be my guest, I'll make more anytime that it runs out
Little miss, you'll go far
Little miss, hide your scars
Little miss, who you are is so much more than you like to talk about
Despite all I've been through (and continue to deal with), I am still generous almost to a fault. I've held and continue to hold jobs and do volunteer work where I place all of my own troubles on the back burner to help others. I make others laugh and am a fantastic actress in public. When I'm alone, however, that's a completely different story.
I listen to this song frequently.
P.S.
New song that has special meaning for me: "She Used to Be Mine" by Sara Bareilles.
And "Human" by Christina Perri.
