True to Myself

In heartfelt peace, I wait for daybreak

seeking the isolation of serenity’s choice,

subtle and ephemeral in my hands

knowing that both happiness and sorrow

exist in parallel universes, offering

choice of which star we select from sky.

Mustard moon is pared to fine sliver

frozen in place by choices I made

Mist leaks under the clouds gently,

pouring tears of promise from pitchers

of warm enveloping trances,

magical moments of sweet surrender

craving the light in silent desolation.

Daylight creeps in a chasm of colors

engulfing me in rich tones of selection

embraced with the thought that

I can’t envision what I am not

I have no choice but to be true
