Challenge
Write an Italian sonnet about an animal smaller than a fly. It must include an ambiguous ending with a possible resolution, a volta, a simile, and an adverb. This was a friend's English assignment so I thought it'd be interesting to see others take on the challenge! Get creative and have fun!
Prokaryotae
We cannot see its life while in disguise,
As it moves beneath the great wide window
Of life, like whispering shadows below;
Silently it moves, under the guise
Of swiftly flowing water, once unwise,
But now containing the bright spark we know;
From the spark we all sprang, to thrive and grow;
Layers of complexly woven thread dyes
Cellular tapestries became clearer;
Eons passed, while they remained yet unknowing,
Inside Earth's fiery interior,
Then, in a sudden glorious starburst,
They burst forth slow, evolving and growing,
Becoming what we see in the mirror.
