Wouldn’t you?
They sat at the stop light of the intersection of their hometown, the man reaching towards the radio to cut out the volume.
"Yaknow, if I could go into the future, I would. " He said this suddenly, the young woman who sat in the passenger seat of their truck, looked to him and all she could wonder was why.
"How far would you want to go?" She asked this softly, wondering where his thoughts had wandered.
"A couple thousand years. " He said, nodding to himself as if confirming it on his own.
"Why?" She asked, she could not comprehend his meaning.
"I would like to see where the world advances, if it even does. " He shrugged. "Wouldn't you want to see that?" He looked to her, waiting for her answer.
She purses her lips, looking out over the dash to the hood of the truck, the sun dancing on the surface in the afternoon sun.
"That sounds so lonely. I couldn't do it, even for a moment. Everyone I knew and know would be gone. " She turned her head to look out the window, reaching a hand to the brim of her hat to hide her eyes from the unforgiving rays of the sun.
