"Until we meet again."
As he left, I wondered if we ever would.
This relationship was not expected:
not expected to start, to survive.
How it came to be was so natural,
a word here, a smile there,
a small favour, a simple gesture.
Two people coming to know each other
in a profound yet simple manner.
Maybe it should have been a forever love,
maybe it should have never started.
We will never know:
we will move on, move forward, never looking back.
...
"Oh, hello."
"Hi."
Finally.
Well.
Well. This is a bit awkward.
A bit? Really?
Ok, maybe kinda awkward?
You don't get it do you?
If I got it, I wouldn't be having a conversation with myself. So, no, I don't get it.
Well, currently, we are in a field, you have a massive headache, you reek of alcohol and there is a wierd dog staring at us.
Firstly, there is no we or us. Secondly, I'm used to headaches and hangovers so I'm good with that and where is this dog-
Oh GOD it's touching us...um, breathe in, breathe out, don't move, maybe it won't bite.....?
Its a dog, not a bear. And I'm not afraid of dogs...Oooh! There's a piece of paper in its collar. Let me see...
Oh, it has a collar, so it is automatically a safe dog. WHY ARE YOU TOUCHING IT???
"Follow Manuel. He will take you back to camp. I'm sorry."
I'm guessing Manuel is the dog?
Wow. You are a genius. Where's the Nobel Prize?
Seriously? Just shut up for a while please. Thanks.
"Ok Manuel, lets go back to camp."
The dog starts to walk away from me. The voice in my head seems to have stopped now, so I focus on walking, keeping Manuel in my line of sight. The sun is blazing down and I glance down at my clothing. Light, long sleeved shirt, genie pants and solid walking shoes. I seem pretty prepared, but why can't I remember anything? I spend the rest of my walk wondering about what kind of person I am. Just as I'm about to tell Manuel to stop, I see a bunch of canvas tents set up in a circle. Manuel starts running to the closest tent, barking way too loudly for my liking. That's the hangover talking. Great. Your back.
Do you know him?
Who?
The cute guy that's standing in front of you.
Forgetting to stop walking, I bump into a solid, human mass.
"You ok? You seem a bit dazed."
I raise my head to find a pair of startling green eyes staring down at me. You can say it you know.
"Say what?" The guy in front of me raises an eyebrow. "Oh crap, I said that out loud didn't I?" He nods his head, light brown hair flopping over his eyes in the process.
"Come on, we should start packing up. Our trip's almost over."
"Hold up! One, I don't know who the heck you are. Two, I can't seem to remember anything about myself. And three, why are we the only people here when there are probably ten tents set up?"
His eyes widen slightly as he mumbles under his breath, "Shit, they went too far."
Turning his gaze back to me, he flicks my forehead and smiles. "One, you are Layla Rose McPherson, 17 years of age, and very mischievous and fiery. Two, I am your brother Adrien John McPherson, 19 years of age and very protective of my baby sister. And three, its best if you don't remember."
Not suspicious at all....
Oh calm down, he said he was my brother.
A shrill ringtone cuts through my thoughts, causing me to wince. Grabbing his phone from his pocket, Adrien steps away to answer it. After a short call, he hangs up the phone and comes back to me. "We better start packing up. Pops says that we are travelling back home now."
"Home?"
"Yeah, in Australia. Remember?"
"Australia? Where are we now?"
"Mexico." With a smile, he walks away from me and starts packing up the tent in front of him. After a moment of hesitation, I join him.
Well this will be interesting.
You
Come with me.
Please.
You see me, the real me.
You know me, every aspect of me.
Don't leave me behind,
alone, afraid, asking myself what I did.
I need you, need to let go, need to stop,
need to tell you
all the things I didn't say, could've said, should've said.
I will be with you, forever and always.
Till the end.
