Cheese Dogs
Everything is relative to what someone thinks freedom is. Freedom in my perspective is waking in the morning and doing as I please. If I decide to not go into work it may look bad on a record, but ultimately, I won’t be shot or put in prison. Well, aside from the military sector where going AWOL is seen as a crime. But for me as civilian I feel free to do as I please as long as I have to funds for it and it doesn’t inherently hurt anyone. Which if hurting someone is your version of freedom I have a number you should call on speed dial via my cellular.
Freedom of speech as of late on the nets have been put into question which does have me worried. But at the moment we can say anything we want to and be fine by law for the most part. I don’t believe we should put regulations on hateful things. Let me explain before you trigger punch your wall and immediately boycott me after my first entry in Prose.
I don’t agree that hateful things that bring people emotional distress is right. In fact, most everyone probably agrees with me. So, if people who are aggressive say those things in the twenty first century they will be socially isolated. No one wants to be around an asshole. They can face social scrutiny and not bring the government into it. We have the freedom not to buy what people are selling us. It should be our responsibility to let them know it isn’t okay.
My point on speech is just an example of how people can make things right. However, our freedoms can be squelched if we constantly call for uncle Sam to help us with all our problems, it will be like that paranoid significant other breathing down your neck trying to check your phone. This paranoia will lead to more regulation, more unannounced monitoring, and have everyone walking on egg shells afraid any small slip up will get them exiled from their life long career.
Biases are a huge factor. Say we give the all mighty uncle Sam the power over everything. But then, there is an election. And some real cheese dogs plop their way into office and they decide what is socially right and wrong. This is why some problem should be fixed on our own.
Freedom to express your opinion as to not oppress yours or anyone’s thoughts. Freedom of religion to believe how you want as long as it doesn’t physically harm others. Freedom to drink 4 cups of coffee then pass out on the couch for a day nap and everything will be nice and not destroyed when you wake up.
But then why are men in suits at your door?
They are saying that you had exceeded your caffeine limit for the day via the new social regulations, which your wrist censor alarmed them of.
And now on your public record has you labeled an addict and your company feels it’s bad “PR” to keep an addict employed with them.
Then your fired and can’t feed the family all over because the cheese dogs in office that you hate decided hate speech is penalized by death and over two cups of coffee is considered overdosing.
Now your life is a downward spiral until your homeless and divorced.
And kids kick you on the sidewalk and adults name call out their’ windows as they pass. But then those name callers are shot on sight in front of everyone as a display of authority for the new cheese dog laws. Then kids are traumatized by the aggressiveness of authorities all while you’re holding a sign that says “help”.
Then you wake up.
And realize there might be cheese dogs plopped in office, but they don’t have as much power as they could.
And you go and have a wonderful day free of eggshell walking.
Because you are free.
