water
the ocean sighs,
holding the body of a young child
against his chest.
trying to warm up this limp life
as if the lantern could be relit,
as if the eyes, damp and peaceful
could be opened
once again.
he takes a deep breath
and lays the small body
on the shore,
taking one last touch of cold skin
before drawing away,
back into the deep
dark
world.
Only trying to help...
You push me
to hate you
your words
that patronize and squeeze
have two tails
they go nowhere
when I'm about to lose it
you want that last goddamn word
to push that button
to send me
over the edge
it's not love
to treat someone
this way
it's not love
to force the monster
inside of me
out
in a fiery exclamation
to lock eyes with you
to scream at you
to hiss at you
leave her alone
she's safe there
leave me alone
I'm safe here
I'm warning you
you might not
want to visit
my mind
that's where
all my demons dwell
A Mermaid’s Unsung Song
She fell in love one day
When a fisherman's boat came out to sea.
It was love at first sight for her
The man had an aura like that of a prince.
The young maiden wanted to capture the man's heart
So she began to sing a song
And it truly was a splendid song.
But her voice did not reach her heart's robber
Not because they were of different tongues
But because humans were unable
To hear the voice of a mermaid.
Heartbroken and crestfallen
The mermaid let out a loud cry
Begging to be heard by her love
She was the only one that could hear it.
