Sea Surrender
Don’t wade in my grate of tears,
splash aside whispers of shadows
as damp marble façade crumbles
in still pond of crimson sorrow.
Clammy chill of forgotten winds
wraps around damp torso
in sheer curtains of mist.
Slippery path leads to edge,
smell of brine permeates soul,
seagulls sadly signaling me home.
Peace seeps sodden emptiness
through breath of sorrowful sea
I slip blissfully into wet offering
surrendering to watery respite.
From weakness, Strength.
Advocate of the destructive
Patron saint of the misplaced
Tending to the broken ones
Amassing slaps to the face
When relegated to the edge
There's no other way to play
Forced to impose on others
Cause no one thought to save you space
You poor and broken down soul
When you hit the ground roll
You'll never get to fly
Like your brothers in the clouds
But you get access to a view
Accessible only from the ground
You don't want to play
With your siblings the piss ants
Ignore the things they'll say
To all that are different
Someday they'll all find
They can't cross this expanse
On wings so they'll fall
And you'll make up the distance
They're hands are too clean
They haven't lived life
Cause life isn't life
Without all our strife
If you survive it life supplies
The hardest sort of armor
fitting only the miscreant
the laborer, the farmers
Will we get our comeuppance?
Not if we don't survive
So shoulder the plow
and for now? Stay alive.
