Challenge of the Week #58: You are a victim of injustice, write a story about it. The most masterfully written piece, as voted and determined by the Prose team, will be crowned winner and receive $150. Quality beats quantity, always, but numbers make things easier for our judges, so share, share, share with friends, family, and connections. #ProseChallenge #getlit #itslit

Living for Them

I was in kindergarten. They told me I was nothing special. They stole my spirit. When I live for them I fall. When I live for a greater purpose I raise with so much spirit. I was in third grade. They told me that I was a tomboy and gross. They took my femininity. When I live for them I leave in grief. When I live for a greater purpose I live with strength and beauty. I was in sixth grade. They called me crazy and judged me. They took my beauty and never ending confidence. When I live for them I live without myself. When I live for a greater purpose I live with self love. I live for a greater purpose and I live with spirit, beauty, and self love. I have lived a great injustices through my life ,but the smaller ones are the ones that take the most time to heal.

Our feelings stored with lock and key,

Scratching breaking inside of me.

When I finally have the courage to reach in side

of the feelings I do despise.

Breaking the lock is my one true test.

That is why I manifest.
