"Hey beautiful," a voice came from overhead. Jackie peered
at the voice, soft but deep. He was two heads taller than her and word a crimson sweater with a reindeer mid-hop. "Wanna take a swing with me?" He asked.
She smiled politely and shook her head. "Thank you, but I'm waiting for someone." She brushed her bangs to the side so the man could see her roll her eyes. "He likes his entrances dramatic."
They chuckled a moment, but the man sidled a bit toward the crowd, the gusto he carried defused. Then he asked, "Say what's his name anyway? I'm buddies with the host, who invited everyone, so I might know the fella."
Jackie flipped her head to the ceiling, mouthing "oh my god." One could mistake her look for impatience, but actually she was disgruntled with partner. He'd been planning crashing this Christmas party since winter of last year, ever since he was banned from that party. He warned her, "don't muck it up. They have this coming." But while she was impressed with his meticulous plan, she knew he deserved it. Drunk vomit over Carlie's face on her birthday two years ago.
She whispered, "I'm not supposed to tell you, heheh. Trent Beckingham," and at that the man's eyes exploded.
"THAT GUY?! He threw up on my girlfriend!"
He turned and walked through the dancefloor, candid couples and woozy friends. The cyan brick staircase started leakeding water on the sides but he didn't notice. He marched up the wooden steps, to Alphus, to let him know to they'd need bodyguards, if not the cops. But it was too late. Jackie took a calm sip of her wine and ambled toward the bathroom. Trent, what an idiot you are.
The chandelier above the dancefloor started creaking and rocking violently, because a man in underpants was standing on it and throwing socks at people and holding a wrench. Then a metal burst echoed from the walls...like a pipe exploded. And water and steam started bursting from cracks along the sky blue ceiling, azure walls, and cyan brick staircase.
