Twenty Five
He was only twenty five
when they strapped him down
and injected potassium to stop his heart.
He cried like a little boy
begging for his mom
begging for his life.
He was twenty three
when they locked him in a room
and threw away the key.
He cried like a little boy
when the other inmates hurt him
and the guards turned their heads.
He was twenty one
when he slit a girl's throat
and another, and another.
He was nineteen
when he saw a girl jogging
and just couldn't keep his hands off her.
He was thirteen
when a cat scratched him
and he hung her from a clothes hook.
He was eight
when his mom killed herself
and his dad started hitting him.
He was twenty five
when they strapped him down
and injected potassium to stop his heart.
