the meaning of life
When we picked berries and chewed on bones,
And covered cave walls with lively earth tones,
When we first broke bread with wolves and goats,
A new world was born in our brains, our throats,
After we'd seen the night sky and connected the dots -
Gods lived in the stars, and they loved us lots.
Then some time passed, we changed, as you do,
We came up with steel knives, vaccines, and kung fu,
We phased out horses in lieu of coal and steam,
And we didn't stop there - now our machines
run on pure lightning. We've been to the stars -
They can't nurse life, and don't care about ours.
Some people lost hope, and looked at the ground.
"So that's all there is? That's all we have found?
Just rocks and hot gas? No profound meaning?"
But they missed the point. Guys, we should be beaming,
Just look at the night sky and connect the dots -
The meaning's always been here, in our thoughts!
Cyanic
A word is such a vague way of defining oneself, is it not? What's in a word that I may use one to describe me, I wonder? Perhaps I should use a flower or the description therein to define me. I have to give ample credit to the Bard of Avon, Shakespeare, for the possibility of such as he said it best when he wrote, "That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet "
Yes, after further contemplation, perhaps a blue violet flower is what would best describe me if I were to use a flower for such. I have always gravitated to a rich, vivid blue color, surrounding myself with as much of the color as possible, so perhaps I am defined by the color - or the word - blue. Blue is a calming color but full of a vibrancy that’s seen all about us in the skies, the butterflies, the oceans, the flowers, and the birds. I like to think that I am able to flit and fly about in the vast world, emboldened by all of nature that hums and beats around me. After all, we are one with the blue universe, much more than we often realize.
So, this very day, I will pick the deepest and most royal blue color to define myself, knowing I have chosen well and will be most content. Thus, going forward, I am forevermore defined by the word cyanic, the bluest of blues.
Let Me In
His name was FIRE
kindling my soul
whimpering at my heart
Oh, let me in.
I need to carve him
into my very being
deeply etched
engraved
for eternity
Oh, let me in!
His whispers
permeating
the breeze
numb me
vanish in smoke
Oh, let me in!
His embers
consume me
burn me
scorch me
Oh, let me in!
Soot covers me
incinerates me
smolders and flares
until
I am reduced
to ashes
but still
he will not
let me in!
What?
My mind boils
in fleeting horizons.
I plunge deeply
into blue veins
of infinite ocean
but cannot glimpse
the ending.
Decisions float
before my eyes,
swirls of possibilities
but no answers.
Stillness of my air
surges and begs
for resolutions.
Deception layers
my skin as confusion
sways in winds
of turbulent fate.
Squalls knock
me into
the vast unknown
leaving me
pondering,
“What is it
that I want?”
On This Day: May 11th … Strange Holidays

National Foam Rolling Day
I have no clue about Foam Rolling Day, but we are about to find out. This should be easy enough. Here we go.
National Foam Rolling Day
Today recognizes a therapy that’s been called the poor man’s massage. You only go to the dentist once a year, but you brush your teeth every day. While we can’t get a massage every day, foam rolling offers the next best thing! Brush your muscles daily with a foam roller.
The first foam roller was patented in the US in the 1920’s, so foam rolling is nothing new. However, foam rolling is gaining momentum in recent years.
Foam rollers may offer relief from muscle aches and pain. While more research is still needed, some small studies have suggested that foam rollers may help reduce stress, relieve muscle pain related to fibromyalgia and exercise, increase range of motion, and flexibility. Foam rollers come in a variety of sizes, though they are usually cylindrical or balls. They may be smooth or have nodules for a deeper massage.
TriggerPoint, a division of Implus Corporation, founded National Foam Rolling Day to promote the benefits of foam rolling as a fitness tool. Like any other over-the-counter fitness tool, foam rolling doesn’t guarantee medical results, but by introducing mobility into tissue that’s stuck together, tense, or overused, you can expect reduced tension, better mobility, and less overall stress. TriggerPoint empowers people to reach an optimal level of movement by providing the world’s best therapeutic self-care products and education.
Interesting. I guess the next time you decide to use a roller to paint a room, use it on yourself first.
Eat What You Want Day
What would you like to have to eat today? Okay, great—health permitting, go ahead and have any and all of your favorite foods and snacks. Because today is Eat What You Want Day.
Eat What You Want Day is definitely not a day for diets. It is one single, solitary day in the year to go off your diet and eat something you really enjoy, Today, you can set aside your dietary "No-No" list. Today, you can splurge. Tomorrow, it's back to the diet. It is important to note that today is not intended to eat as much as you want. Rather, the goal is to eat something you otherwise wouldn't have. If you are watching carbs or calories, simply keep within your limits by eating just a small amount of that favorite treat.
People with allergies and/or medical conditions, may not be able to fully participate in this day. Simply said: Do not risk your health to participate in this day.
"My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four,
unless there are three other people."—Oscar Wilde
Twilight Zone Day
Twilight Zone Day is mysterious, weird, surreal, and perhaps a little scary. We can think of many other adjectives, but I think you get the picture. Every once in a while, you have a day like this. Today is designed to be that day.
The television show The Twilight Zone, was created, written, and narrated by Rod Serling. It premiered on October 1, 1959. The episodes were wildly popular, stretched the imagination, and captivated viewers. The show aired from 1959-1964.
What actual connection to the show or the birth and death of Rod Serling is unknown to this day set aside or the Twilight Zone holiday. Looking into this a bit further, I did find that in Season Three on May 11, 1962, “Young Man’s Fancy” aired. How widely popular that show was, is no way to determine. It was episode 99. There were shows close to this date in Seasons 1, 2 and 5.Then there is episode 11, “And When The Sky Was Opened,” air date October 11, 1959. Next comes episode 111, “The Printer’s Devil,” air date February 23, 1963. That was about all the connection I could make for why today is Twilight Zone Day.
Rod Serling was not the first choice for the narrator. Orson Welles was initially approached by Serling to play the role, but wasn't able to get him.
But—was Rod Serling prophetic? Watch this video and decide for yourself. Please watch this 63 second video. These words were spoken in June 1961.

"You're traveling through another dimension, a dimension not only of sight and sound but of mind; a journey into a wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. That’s the signpost up ahead, Next stop—the Twilight Zone.”—Rod Serling.
More Strange Holidays Coming!
Holding Sorrow
I'm holding sorrow
In my heart
Like a water balloon
Filling under running water
I feel as if
Surely I cannot
Hold another drop
But the tap is stuck
And it just keeps coming
I imagine
Myself
Detaching
From the faucet
And throwing
My sorrow-laden heart
Right at your face
You wanted my heart so badly
But never disclosed
You don't know how to hold it
So take it like this
And let my sorrow rain down upon you
And learn
For the next one
For I
Am ready
To let go of this sorrow
To make room
For the next one
“nice guy”
you ask me what’s wrong
and with that sweet rose, you kiss my hair
i answer in quick whispers that i can’t talk
about it, much less breathe
because talking about it makes it harder
because what i need is to focus on being strong
and you are reaching for a hug
until suddenly it is not a hug anymore
you stab the rose thorns into my broken skin
making it bleed even more
making it cry even more
i beg you to stop
but you don’t
for you claim that it is my punishment
for you claim that you were being a nice guy
when you asked me what’s wrong
that i should be lucky that someone
even cares that much about me
and as i hear your twisted words i shrivel like the rose
that is now turning into black ash
i wither like the stem that you twirl in your hands
as the green stains your hand
blood stains mine
i should’ve known your thoughts only bear weeds of manipulation,
for roses never stay sweet in your fingertips for long
and in this agony,
i become the mere audience of a brutal murder of
a sweet rose and a once-loved girl
(Relation)ship
If I knock it all down
You’ll rebuild it over and over
Just to watch me knock it all down
And if I empty it
You’ll refill it over and over
So I’ll have to empty it again
If I shipwreck it
You’ll send it out to sea over and over
Until I sink it again
Let me destroy it
Let me erase it
Let me go
Ego
We.
young kings
Stripped of our vanity
But not our pride
We confide in pain
It’s all we have
All we can trust
we take it and give em the blues
Yeah
We let them drink
Like fine wine, it burns so good
But don’t forget
I’m here to get
Every itch
That I can’t scratch
Because of the chains
So you can appropriate Every ounce of the juice from our veins
Yeah
get lost in the sauce
As we rise again
Something
Hollow
Still
Profound
Forever
