Rotten Eternity
Oh sad, self-made god,
When you reached out your hand to become the sun did you know?
Did you know immortality fades from glorious forever to the long slow rot of living death?
The mortal heart was not crafted to endure eternity.
Did you not realize you would see your brothers and your lovers die?
Did you not see the cruelty in their kindness, the cold curiosity in their offer?
Because after watching all the ages of the world they were numb and bored,
They offered you the glory of themselves just to see if it would break you.
And it did.
Divinity Brought to Earth
He came with thorns in his mouth,
And torn fingers.
Tasting bitterness and blood,
Feeling the sting of mortal flesh.
Divinity brought to earth -
Cruel and curious
With eyes as old as the cosmos,
And a mind that cannot comprehend mortality.
An angel brought down to Earth.
His wings ragged and singed from his fall.
Unaware or uncaring
Of humanity and its beliefs.
Made flesh and bone for the first time
He is only curious and wild.
He watches blood drip down his fingers -
Not his own -
And licks it inquisitively.
Angels are not soft, kind cherubs,
Angels are alien.
He came, feral and strange
Ready to dissect humanity just to see what was inside.
Star Gazing
Star gazing,
Shoulders bumping,
Talking deep into the night about everything and nothing at all.
Fingers itching to touch,
Tongues tempted to tumblr over confessions,
Staring at the galaxies in each other's eyes.
The night brings with it a strange confidence -
And longing.
But for tonight we'll tame our tongues,
And curl our fingers into fists,
Because in the end we're just two kids afraid of falling in love
Scabs
You're doing it again,
Drawing me in -
With that look,
With that soft touch.
It's like picking at a barely closed wound,
It hurts, but it's addictive.
The blood and the throbbing of each heartbeat.
It hurts,
But it always hurts.
Someday it either has to heal or get infected,
I don't know which would be worse.
