Justice for Junior
Little did I know that helping a friend
Would be the beginning of my end
Little did I know that I had no chance
To change that very circumstance
I ran inside thinking people would help
Because it was clear I couldn’t help myself
Not one person helped, but they all did stare
As I was dragged outside, nobody showed care
Each asailant maximized their turn with me
The very first one used a machete
He hacked and he hacked and he hacked away
As the others utilized their knives to play
When it finally ended, each attacker fled
I screamed for help as my organs bled
When no one replied, I ran down the street
Adrenaline pumping, no shoes on my feet
When I made it there, my body quit
And before I knew it I was forced to sit
Through my pain I wanted to live
But with no blood, my heart couldn’t give
The doctors tried to bring me back
But the EKG remained mostly black
I couldn’t hold on and though I tried
At the hospital is where I died
Giving $5 to a friend to me
Got me murdered by mistaken identity
She Kept the Faith
She feared the unknown.
She feared being alone.
Yet she took the risk.
She engaged in the kiss.
It was her greatest pleasure.
It soon left her with treasure.
A gift that couldn’t be sold.
Like her, this gift would grow old.
Over time she grew to hate.
The reality of her fate.
No one to call her own.
Undesirable. Alone.
Yet she remained strong.
Though her days were always long.
There were days that she would cry.
Days that she would want to die.
But she never gave up.
She kept her head up.
One day her struggle ended.
Like she had always pretended.
Her happiness soon returned.
She recovered from being burned.
On her journey she met a prince.
Her heart stayed on the fence.
Unsure about the future.
Not wanting another suture.
But this suitor was different.
A reminder of things that weren’t.
There were many gifts he would bring.
But one day he brought her a ring.
He then asked for her hand.
So she could understand.
That to him she was desirable.
And her struggle was admirable.
He asked her to say ‘Yes’.
He vowed to give her his best.
To this she did say ‘Yes’.
Though her heart endured a mess.
Yet again she took the risk.
She engaged in the kiss.
But this one brought her peace.
And in the end, all of her troubles did cease.
Pain
Pins and needles are stabbing my spine.
My ears are ringing but I will be fine.
Flesh eating bacteria is gnawing at me.
There’s salt in my eyes so I cannot see.
My head is being beaten with a brick.
And in my anus there is a spiky stick.
I cannot breath my airway is thinning
But through all of this, I am still winning.
Lacking Guidance
I opened the door to find
The inside of my mind
My conscience appeared blind
Detaching from the bind
That creates every thought
Original... not bought
In anger I was caught
So with it I had fought
For every memory
That made me into me
For thoughts I’d never see
For unseen victory
I lost the fight that day
I couldn’t make her stay
There were no words to say
As my conscience slipped away
No Valentine
I’ve become so accustomed to spending this day alone.
It doesn’t phase me very much because I’m frequently on my own.
I’m not going to lie, a gift or three would be great.
Better yet, a handsome man taking me on a date.
But I’m okay and I’ll always be fine by myself.
No chocolates to eat so this day keeps me in good health.
