Technical writing may be my job, but creative writing is my life.

Three lines. A smell OR sound that provokes deep nostalgia.
Murphy’s Oil Soap
The shiny orange bottle always seems to catch my eye at the store, almost calling my name to stop for a visit, a reunion co-hosted by my memories and my smell. I twist the cap as I look around, making sure no one can see me and I inhale deep long breaths, taking in the powerful scent of musty oranges and oil - I am transported back in time - my teenage self is using the oil to mop the kitchen floors, I carelessly let the sopped tendrils of the mop hit my summer stained Ked's causing them to become soaked along with my socks and feet, I smile because now I know the oily citrus scent is embedded on me and it becomes part of me during that summer.
