Hi, my name is Chandra.
The alarm goes off again, this time there is no more time for snooze. I stumble to the kitchen, to start a pot of coffee. “Thank you God for another day!” Off to the bathroom to see the dreaded face. Grab the toothbrush, dodging the glimpse I don’t want to see. Wash my face, and there she is staring back at me! Fearless, I stand face to face with my greatest adversary. The scars scream. “Waste of air, I’ll make it where no one wants you, trash!” His words scream through her own face. Past verses present the battle is everyday. Scurry out of the bathroom, ready to face the day. Stronger than yesterday, as she left her again in the mirror for another day.
Light and Dark
Self righteous, religious, belittling, scoffers.
Dirty, beaten, loving followers of Jesus Christ.
Which are you?
Would you allow a man born in a manger in you million dollar church? Arriving on a borrowed donkey? I think not. Darkness believing they are light!
True followers reside with him, going into the darkest places to bring the ultimate light.
They are beaten, broken and belittled by the other side.
He is waiting
She couldn’t close her eyes, for fear she would go back to that place. A place so grey where his face always stays. She can hear him breathing. The smell of sweat, coal and bourbon.
She tosses and turns in hopes the sunlight finally shows. Twenty years have passed, yet he is always waiting. The night passes and she fades away. Safe now to close her eyes in the light of day.
