Memories Lost at 2 (a line poem)
Of chalk tracings on a sunken boulder
Of thick hackberry trees
Of scattered bolts and washers on a dirty garage floor
Of tiny fistfuls of an asperous beard
Of lonely toes peeking out from under a door
Of a storage tub covered with plastic wrap
Of a bright blue cat and a thickly mascaraed elephant
Of a puffy pink snowsuit
Of a home I've never know.

Coaxing Out A Poem (a response to “Harlem Night Song” by Langston Hughes)
Come.
Let me get some sleep tonight
Snoring.
I beg you.
Inside
My dark quiet bedroom
Lamp is glowing
Battery is dying
Clock is a great reminder
Of homework due.
In my sleepy stress
Creativity is waning.
I beg you.
Come.
Let me get some sleep tonight
Snoring.
