Breaking a sweat
when they build a monument for her, she will be in a crouching start
her fingers dug into the earth
her eyes thunder, fierce
her feet are now vines, and the echoes of
buzzing wasps
a vision of bird skulls
the scent of damp, fertile black Texas soil
she is nature and red nurture
conservation and reclamation
peace and fire
