Pushing Through.
You can give up so easily.
You can throw it all away.
Without a single thought,
You can lose your chance of this day.
The hard part?
Building the mentality to come back.
When you want something so badly,
But you're about to crack.
It takes a week to build a house of cards.
Only a split second to break it down.
Grit will get you through life.
Instead of being a victim of this count-down.
If the Cap Fits....
Wear it,
They say,
It worse today,
Than it was yesterday.
But how can that be so?
Surely you know,
That people of difference,
Were forced to sow,
The seeds of death,
Among their race,
With no respect,
Or grace.
It's not about you,
It's about them,
Whoever they are,
Near or far,
There's always those,
Worse off,
Than those who chose,
Or were chosen,
To live the better life,
The good life,
The entitled,
The privileged,
The lucky ones,
Who sons,
And daughters,
Will drink clean water,
Breathe clean air,
Live their dream
Without a care,
In their world,
With their own
Not for another,
That they don't consider,
A mother,
Or a brother,
Or sister,
Oh no, Mister,
It's all about us,
Who cares about them?
We only care for when,
Those times the sun
Shines upon us again,
And again,
And again.
Yes, there's justice,
Yes, there's fair,
But only when I'm
Standing on the very top stair,
Looking down,
Feeling sad,
At how terrible,
How bad,
You've all got it,
When others have it good,
But I'm not part of
That equation,
The squalor,
The horrors of the hood,
It's a problem on TV,
In the news,
A song sung blue,
It's not about me,
It's all about you,
But I'm OK,
I worked hard.
I didn't get here,
Through lottery,
Charity,
Or a social gift card,
Life's not fair,
You get dealt your hand,
Like a zebra,
Chewing grass,
As the lions,
Form a band,
We're all defenseless at heart,
No matter where we start,
And the end game,
Is the same,
Even for those,
Who aren't to blame,
And for those who are,
They'll be wishing on a star,
Cos when is all hits the fan,
Every woman,
Every man,
Leaves this world the same way,
Sleeping tight,
On judgement day,
How will you be judged?
Did you do enough?
Have you had it rough?
Because wherever you end up,
Make sure you've got the stuff,
To look back and say,
I did my bit,
Everyday,
I found a way,
To give some back,
Not do jack,
Not be a hack,
I shed some light,
I helped those fight,
Who wanted to scrap,
And go the extra lap,
It's not about you,
Or me,
Or them,
It's us,
The short,
The strong,
The rich,
The poor,
The weak,
The tall,
It all about us,
All of us.
Average Doesn’t Live Here Anymore
It's all well and good,
When your on the up and up,
But things can get rough,
Being good enough.
There's no need to feel down,
When you're the only one around,
No need to bluff,
You're good enough.
Out there in the clear,
No one standing near,
Made of the right stuff,
You're good enough.
If the best you ever had,
Is getting just better than bad,
It becomes tough love,
Being good enough.
One angle shows light,
Things are alright,
You're out of the bluff,
You're good enough.
On the darker side of things,
The fat lady sadly sings,
The going got tough,
You're not good enough.
Comfortably you settle,
Not showing any mettle,
The least amount of stuff,
Now, isn't good enough.
When you're out there with the rest
And the best put you to the test,
Life let's you know you're in the rough,
When good doesn't come close to good enough.
