Hate my Hair
My mother cut my hair yesterday
Against my will
I watched as these pieces of me
Fell to the floor at the hand of a blade - deja vu
It was the one piece of me
That was free from insecurity
Now it is short and dark
Like my mind.
I talked to my friend this morning
But the words felt forced and wrong
I watched as our relationship
Began to unfurl - I don't think I can talk to her again
Anytime soon
But I've known this was coming
Because we've been drifting apart
For a while.
I'm gazing out the window now
Begging, pleading, crying, yelling.
Watching as my family is torn apart
Piece by piece, we
Are cut off, drifting away.
How can a broken family compare to a haircut
Or losing a friend?
Yet somehow
It does.
Harry Situation Reviews: Injustice 2
Injustice for all!
Injustice 2 is the sequel to the hit fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us, and was created by NetherRealm Studios, the studio who also created the Mortal Kombat series. The story goes that Superman has become madden with grief after the loss of his wife Lois Lane at the hands of the Joker. In retaliation, he kills the Joker. That's some dark shit right there. Superman then proceeds to become emperor of the world with Batman standing against him. Later with the help of the Justice League from the Multiverse, Superman's regime was defeated.
Five years after the reign of Superman, Batman is trying to rebuild the world only to find that one of Supes' villains, Brainaic, has come to invade the earth and it's an all out awesome adventure from there.
This game is pretty awesome. I don't play a lot of fighting games but I greatly enjoyed playing this one.
The cinematics in this game look outstanding. Very visual and very life-like. It's like something out of the Arrowverse and the DC Extended Universe. And it helps that there's an incredible story behind it. Yeah, Superman is evil. I'm not to fond of that but the story focuses more on Supergirl, which was great to follow.
Additionally, there was an outstanding voice work for this game. Veterans who've voice these DC characters from the past have returned to voice their iconic roles. Kevin Conroy (the best Batman) as Batman, George Newbern as Superman, Susan Eisenberg as Wonder Woman, Alan Tudyk as Green Arrow, Vanessa Marshall as Black Canary, Phil LaMarr as Aquaman, Grey Griffen as Catwoman, Tara Strong as Harley Quinn, and Khary Payton as Cyborg. Every nerd will go crazy over these names and voices. Also whoever thought to cast Robert England, the guy best known for playing Freddy Krueger, as Scarecrow deserves a raise.
The controls work perfectly, for the most part. I did find myself having a hard time maneuvering a few characters than I did for others. For example, I lost so many times in the story as Green Lantern that I never wanted to play as him again. I mainly played as Green Arrow, but I also found that I was pretty good playing Catwoman too. My best advice when playing this game is learn as much of the move list from each of the characters as possible, just to see which character you like playing as the most.
But let's get to the thing that most gamers are talking about: the loot. In order to gain new loot, you have to go through a series of matches in a setting called the Multiverse. Once completing a trial you can gain some cool customizable gear for your characters to stylize how you want them. It's totally worth the extra hours of gameplay. This is the thing that keeps you coming back to play every time. And what's great is that gear, and the stats for the gear, is carried over to Multiplayer matches so you could potentially have the upper hand in a fight, as long as you mastered your character's moves.
I'm just gonna wrap things up by stating Injustice 2, like its predecessor, is an awesome game to play. Hell, I think it's even better than the first game. Go buy it full price or rent it at your local Redbox now and get into the action!
Positives: Negatives:
-Gorgeous cinematics -Some character controls are bad
-Great story
-Maneuverable controls
-Amazing voice work
-Multiverse matches
-Customizable loot
Final Grade: A

Body Talk
Lightening flashes thru out my body
As the night skies did a dancing light
show of conducive streaking bolts
Of lights over powering the skyline
Like shots of cosmic rays of Godsend of the most beautiful strobes of lights
while I"m sitting an waiting on him
To return to me once more
to soothe my
throbbing heart ache
rain seeps in my membrane
To the source that was drained
needlessly wanting
To fill my empty spaces with
sultry stares into blank spaces
My eyes rolled to the back of my
Head as fire ignites the loud thuds
Of clapping and ground shaking
thunder crackles within ear shots sending
hot caressing probing fingertips that
tingled thru out my rib cage rattling
Temptations of wet sweet steamy
lustful dreams leaving me in wet puddles of your aftermath
while cool gentle breezes slides in between my toes
up to my thighs til
it reaches my inner harmonies spots numbing my core with penetrating pleasures leaving me dripping with a salacious taste on the tip of your tongue of freshly delectable mangos
Devouring each sip as tho I'm a hungry Abyss wanting devour more like a straight addict for your touches
Stranger Things ...
The stranger knocked upon the door,
A creaking, wooden throb,
And someone on the other side
Unlatched and turned the knob.
Uncertainty, a soft, "Hello,"
And, "May I use your phone?"
The person on the other side
Appeared to be alone.
An observation taken in,
No pictures on the wall.
He pointed somewhere down the way-
"Go on and make a call."
The thunder boomed; the stranger stalled
As wires were cut instead.
The gentleman began to sense
A subtle hint of dread.
A conversation thus ensued-
"So what has brought you out?
The rain has flooded everything,
And wiped away the drought.
Say, did you walk, or did you drive?
Why don't I take your coat?"
The stranger slowly moved his arms,
A sentimental gloat.
The water from the pouring skies
Enveloped cloth and shoe.
"Say, would you like a place to sleep?
I'll leave it up to you."
The person on the other side
Discarded his mistrust.
The stranger said his tire was flat,
And shed the muddy crust.
"The phone won't work," he also said.
"It could just be the storm.
Perhaps I will stay here tonight,
To keep me safe and warm."
The patron of the house agreed.
He hadn't seen the wire.
The chilly dampness prompted him
To quickly build a fire.
"You have a name? They call me Ed.
My wife was Verna Dean.
She passed away five years ago
And left me here as seen.
I guess it's really not so bad.
We never had a child.
I loved that Verna awful much,"
He said and sadly smiled.
"No property to divvy up.
The bank will get it all.
Say, do you want to try again
To go and make that call?"
The stranger grinned and left the flame
As to the phone he strode.
Within his pocket, knives and twine
In hiding seemed to goad.
A plan was formed- he'd kill the man;
Eviscerate him whole.
The twine would keep him firmly held;
The knife would steal his soul.
A lusty surge erupted hence;
A wicked bit of sin.
The stranger hadn't noticed yet
That someone else came in.
About the time a shadow fell,
He spun to meet a pan.
The room around him faded out
As eyes looked on a man.
A day or two it seemed had passed,
And when he woke all tied,
The stranger gazed upon old Ed
Who simply said, "You lied."
Reversing thoughts, the moment fled
And Ed said in a lean,
"No worries, stranger. None at all.
Hey, look, here's Verna Dean!"
He looked upon a wraith in rage;
It seemed his little lie
Combusted in a burning fit-
He didn't want to die.
So many victims in his life,
Some fifty bodies strewn.
And now he was the victim; now
The pain to him was known.
The stranger fought against the twine,
And noticed by his bed
The knife once in his pocket left
A trail of something red.
A bowl filled full of organs sat
As Verna poured some salt.
She exited with all of them.
"You know, this is your fault.
We demons wait for just the day
The guilty take the bait
And play with matches one last time-
I simply cannot wait
To taste the death within your flesh;
The venom in your gut.
So now you know the way they felt-
Hey, you've got quite a cut!"
The person on the other side
Removed his human skin-
Before his wife came back for more,
He offered with a grin:
"Say, stranger, is there anything
You'd like to say at all?"
I looked at all the blood and said,
"I'd like to make that call ... "
This is how Daedalus felt, almost lost in his own labyrinth
I can't speak outside of my poetry. I've sewn it into my throat
and if I try without it, it is only with a liar's tongue.
If I could be effulgent for you, I would. Every moment.
I've got dreams of how I could be and she's beautiful.
(but)
This
is all I've known, what I've always feebly given: love created with a silencer
so someone out there is bound to be louder.
