Little parting gift
My little pet, it’s been too long,
Here you stand before me as a spectre.
Upon your entry as a furry banshee,
An ancient relic of the past,
A talisman of forgotten memories,
A paragon of nostalgia and all that couldn’t last,
I felt a dreadful chill of tricky peace.
You mischievous feline, where’s your grave?
Why can’t you rest, little demon, have good faith?
You must come to me with ghastly eyes and cry,
Meow and tell me it’ll soon be my own time.
I’d awaken from the dream had it been so,
I reached for the cat and it dashed in the Netherworld.
As gift of parting, it has left me with absolute peace,
I’ll bow my head and await for the dreary reap.
What a kitten, and what loyalty!
It’s defied the overworld to see me.
Who else would? I am alone,
And my only companion is long gone.
So come, Death, take me as you will,
Afterlife is my only little wish.
I know, and I’ve been surely told, it’s a small piece of heaven,
For those that have endured the horrors of this world,
They’ll be reborn into redemption and bliss.
That undying curiosity is long gone, so I’ll have my throat slit.
