after the pastoral
you speak of our glasslike eyes and pinhole camera
accustomisation to an uncomfortable blue
revelation wrought by men greater than we
tribulation brought by men greater than we
accusation sought by men greater than we
monkeys leading blind man to
false idolatry and shrines to the living
an addiction to the past and the future
leading on a chain of fools shackled to the devil they know
they shy away from a cross that beckons
reaper of a path not followed and never returned
if cogitation
else adjuration
your desperation
calls to the heart of steel and wool
the centre of a deliberate universe
the darkness without the light
conjuring the gatekeeper to a journey misunderstood
you speak of clarity
yet fail to fall
when the sea calls you home
