They come in the dark
Their visits are more regular now
I don’t know why
They haven’t been around for years, 50 years
They are there sitting on the foot of my bed
Standing at the doorway
Looking in my window
No one talks, they just stare into the glow my heart shows
My heart beats, theirs no more
They are the seven that stayed
I am the one that came home
Every night they visit now
Sleep abandons me
They want me to return to the field where they fell
Maybe soon my friends
We will all be solders at peace
And we will all sleep again
Remember Spring
Remember
When winter’s last breath chilled the morning air
When the last remnants of white laid in patches in the corners of the field
When the budding of tree branches moved lightly on the wind
When the anticipation of the new season warmed the memory of the past one
Remember
The fresh smell of a new earth
The robin and worm tug of war
The greenness of new grass
The white heads of daffodils popping through the soil
The brain rush of cool breath finding its way to the soul
Remember
A gentle sun warming your shoulders as you walked midday streets
A melody that filled your mind as you took each step
A rhapsody of songbirds as they built their nest
A comforting smile of a new friend who became your best
Remember Spring
Remember Love
Remember Us
Remember
Compassion and Indifference
Love and Hate, Compassion and Indifference
A common honey bee swims for its life in a pool of water.
The hand of compassion fearing its sting cups it,
blows on it drying its wings and the bee flys away. LOVE
Indifference willfully watches the bee labor in the water
until it dies. HATE
Creation gave all things a purpose. Ours is to Love.

Dichotomy
We put childproof locks on aspirin bottles
but we won't childproof children from shooters
We put food in plastic containers
but we won't stop plastic containers from killing our oceans
We put carbon dioxide in our atmosphere that causes climate change
but we won't fight global warming
We clear rain forest for farming
but we won't feed those who are starving
We create medicine to heal us
but we won't make it affordable
We put drugs in our bodies to keep us from pain
but we won't stop killing ourselves with drugs
We put the politicians in office to make laws
but we won't hold them accountable when they break them
We blame those who are different from us for our problems
but the problems are of our own creation
We ask God for a solution, we think he’s not listening
but in the silence, he answers
LOVE
THE ONLY
The only obstacles to your success
are the ones you make
The only solutions to problems
are the ones you create
The only freedom
is truth
The only desire worth having
is love
The only happiness to seek
is in giving of yourself
The only peace you’ll find
is the peace you bring
The only life you have
is this one
Make it wonderful!
A Country Song
It was just a one night stand
Out having fun
I knew better when she asked me
But I didn’t take the time to run
And when the sensation left my body
And her kisses felt like pain
I had to leave the party
So I walked out in the rain
And the suns not going make it
And the moon not going rise
And this day seems like forever
Will, there be tomorrow in her eyes
If I tell her will she leave me
I can’t keep this all inside
Is her love for me strong enough
To forgive this foolish guy
I can’t bear to see her cry
I can’t bear to see her cry
So I told her in the morning
I watched her eyes stare at the door
And it seemed she didn’t hear what I was saying
Then she pushed me to the floor
She said I don’t know if we’re good together
I’ve done the same to you
His kisses were like fire
But all I could think of was you
And as we held each other
And felt the others pain
I knew there would be a tomorrow
To begin our love again
And the sun is going to make it
And the moon is going to rise
And today will last till mid-night
And tomorrow is in her eyes

Nature Speaks
Withered leaf and winter birds,
A misty desert morn.
Silence rest upon the air,
the coyote sings no more.
Creosote flower gives its scent,
javelina roams the wash.
A red hawk soars below the clouds,
its shadow runs the rock.
Ground squirrels gather cactus seed
to feed their hungry lot.
Bobcat perched on a rocky ledge
watches my every move,
I turn to watch my flank
so as not to be subdued.
Covey of quail cross my path,
they call for all their young.
Yellow finches fly from bush to tree,
they glimmer in the sun.
This Christmas day I have no cares,
the desert brings me peace.
My wish for you who read these lines is to hear
The Love That Nature Speaks.
