People
People
Does more need to be said?
Social interaction
Is anything more frightening?
You watch their words weave back and forth
Sarcasm and underlying reasons
It’s a world of mystery to you
How do they always know what to say?
How do you become excepted?
Even if you join, you just sit quietly
They ask questions you don’t know how to answer
“How is your day?”
“Did you like the show?”
When you talk everything just comes pouring out
So instead you keep it all inside
Because people are the scariest thing of all
Contentment
Contentment has filled your life
You’re where you want to be
You’re satisfied
Is it happiness though?
You’re content
But not joyful
You’re life is not lonely or sad
But are you happy?
Is your life full of people?
You’re not sure
You’re content
You’ve stopped chasing things
You don’t strive for more
But you wonder if you should
Because you’ve always been chasing
Chasing happiness
You’re content now though
You don’t need more
Are you happy though?
You’re still not sure
But for now you’re not chasing or running
So you relax and breath it all in
I Can Still Stand
I can still stand
You didn't take everything
You made me strong
Strong enough it's still here
Even if you're not
You made me a better person
Not in us combined
But in me standing here alone
You were a rock
But not my rock
You made me better
And I see that in every action I make
But now you're gone
And so I miss you
I miss you in every action I make
Your Butterfly
He is your butterfly
He is beautiful and wonderful
He makes you smile
He makes you laugh
You never want to let him go
But he is a butterfly
You have to let him go
If you don't he'll slowly die
His colors will fade
His wings will droop
He will no longer fly
So you let him go
You get him free
And off he flies into the wind
You blink and he's gone
You may never see him again
But he will always be your butterfly
How?
You know you can do it
You will put up a fight
You will battle again
You know you can win
And then you hear it
"We are worried for you,
We're not sure if you'll do it"
And you know they mean well
They've seen your best
But they’ve seen your worst
And they're not sure you'll make it
And now that sureness is gone
What if you fall?
What if you fail?
You can't be so sure
When your certainty fails
How can you be confident in yourself
When they say you might fail
And you know that it's true
But then how can you not
If you know you can fall
How do you keep yourself up
When you see how you'd fail
How do you not?
We search our whole lives
To find that right person
The one who feels safe
The one who fits us
And who we want to be
But what if we find them
When our search is all done
How do we change
From looking to loving
How do we let ourselves open
To let them walk in
We have them our heart
But how do we except theirs?
When all we've done is give
How does accepting begin?
Gay or Not?
Is he gay?
Or not?
He helps you shop
He calls you hun
But he likes his clothes too much
And he may call everybody that
Is he gay?
Or not?
He held your hand
But nothing more
He may be flirting
But it's not quite right
Is he gay?
Or not?
Others say yes
You're not quite sure
He hasn't said
Either way
Is he gay?
Or not?
He's flamboyant
But he's also in drama
It could go either way
So is he?
Or isn't he?
Who will ever know
