someone will love you.
you're an unlit piece of coal at the back of a fireplace. you're a gem hidden in the depths of a dark cave. you're the first rainfall after a long stretch of heat. you're the moon and all the stars light up the night sky while everyone is asleep. you are the most unappreciated form of beauty, and one of these days when the fires lit, and caves have been dug out, and rain falls, and everyone stays out an extra hour later, you will be appreciated, loved.

The smell of roses
you’re probably going to dance with another girl who will taste like fresh picked strawberries and smell like flowers blossom in her hair
and you’re probably going to choke down 5 shots of straight vodka and get the thought of me out of your head and focus on the girl dancing with you who wants to be your apple pie but you can’t see the diamonds in her eyes because you’re staring at the ones hanging around her neck and you can’t feel her pull you in closer because she’s reaching farther behind your head of dark hair and tapping shoulders of random guys she’s never even met
and when this happens I hope you run to the dingy bathroom and splash your face with dirty water and vomit up the words you never said because while you’re out drowning your heart in things I shouldn’t care about I’m here looking at the moon whispering how much I love you
and if you take her home I swear to God the moonlight will keep you awake no matter what time it is and you’ll watch it shine across your bedroom floor where we danced and laughed and I almost told you that you are my night sky
and I hope the light catches your attention more than the sight of her would and I hope when you wake up all your remember is that roses are my favorite scented flower and you can’t escape the light of the moon
Inequality
You're at work. You look to the picture on the desk of you and your partner. You instantly smile and remember all the things that make you love them. Your phone rings. Unknown number, you let it go to voicemail. You pack up your things, deciding to go home and surprise the love of your life. When you get home, the house is empty. You set your keys down on the counter. You call for them. No answer. You search the entire house. No one. You call their cell thinking they went out for something like groceries. As the phone rings, you grow more anxious. After the third ring, you start to pace. Eventually, it goes to voicemail. Defeated you call the number from earlier, they hadn't left a voicemail. On the second ring, they answer.
"Hello?" a woman's voice says.
" Hi, you called me earlier, this is Antonio-" before you can finish your sentence She says " Come to the hospital on Owl drive, hurry."
As you get in your car, you start to think of all the possible things that could've happened. On your way there, traffic is backed up. You see two cars, one familiar, possibly your car, unfortunately, you can't tell due to the horrendous state it's in. As you race to the hospital, sweat and tears rolling down your face, your body tensing as you make the turn into the emergency room parking lot. You start your way in, you see your family, and your partners mom and dad crying. You sprint to them as fast as possible, asking what happened. Your mom starts sobbing saying "Honey, there's been an accident." but you can hardly hear her because you're running into the hospital and to the front desk. You scream at the nurse saying you have to see him, but the won't let you because you aren't married. You would be married, you've been together for ten years, but in the country you live in its illegal to marry someone of the same gender, someone you love. You ignore the nurse racing down the hall you look into every room, trying to find him. Security catches up to you, makes you sit in the waiting room. While you're sitting there, you start to cry, realizing what had happened. The tears are coming fast now, you can no longer stop yourself from the horrible noises coming from your body. A doctor suddenly emerges, calling Mrs. Falcon's name she rushes to him, and you do too. You stop and look at his face. Sorrow. As he says " I'm sorry, we did everything he could, but he didn't make it. He had lost too much blood." You start screaming "NO." over and over you hadn't even gotten the chance to say goodbye or to tell him you loved him or anything all because you weren't married.
