Four Secrets
Welcome to Four Secrets, a small town in the middle of America. My name is Rosie and I am 18. This little town has a population of 21, very small and quiet to the normal person. Four secrets has a dinner, a church, an antique shop, a gas station, and some houses. You could also find a couple of small businesses. If you need a hospital or police, you will need to go to the next town. It is not what seems though. We are the opposite are normal. I can see and communicate to ghosts. Some other people in this town are also not what they seem. My boyfriend, Lachlan, is a hunter of supernatural beings. He is fine with everyone in this town and are friends with them. Lilith, the gas station owner, is a demon. Her boyfriend, Lyle, is Were. He transforms into a panther on full moons. Arlo, the antique shop owner, is a fallen angel. His wife, Magnolia, is a mermaid. She can walk on land but in water she gets a tail. Sasha and her girlfriend, Clementine, are fairies. Otto is a vampire and his boyfriend, Wes, is just a regular human. We also have a witch named Martina. All of us would not injure a human, we have learned other ways to survive. Lyle locks himself up on full moons, Lilith has hidden hers for over seven years, Otto gets energy off people not blood, and Martina uses her powers for good. Yes, we look like normal humans but we are the opposite. Mine and Lachlan's first day here was interesting and every other day was just as interesting. We unlock so many secrets hidden in the little town of Four Secrets.
A new town
Lachlan got caught catching something in California so we now need to escape to nowhere to hide his identity. And to hide the fact there are supernatural beings. This time it was a Were and it was an important person in town. We packed up our house, our cat, and drove away to never look back.
Rosie: Lachlan we are we going?
Lachlan: Wherever the car takes us. I am going to drive until it runs out of gas.
Rosie: Got everything.
Lachlan: Yep.
Rosie: Let's go then.
He stepped on the gas and was out of the city in 30 minutes. We drove for a couple days and our van ran out of gas in the town Four Secrets. Looks like a quaint place where we cannot get in any trouble. Then, it hits me. Spirts. Spirts are everywhere and they are not all nice. I drop to the ground due to the splitting head ache that has shown up due to the sprits.
Lachlan: Rosie what is it?
Rosie: Spirts.
Lachlan: Your nose is bleeding that rarely happens.
Rosie: I know. Their powerful.
Lachlan: Let's find some answers.
He grabs a gun and a stake from the back of the van and comes back over to me.
Rosie: Woah, hide those. We need a good impression.
Lachlan: Fine.
He puts them in his coat and helps me up. Both of us head into town and I look like a mess.
Rosie: I look terrible.
Lachlan: Nope. You look good.
Rosie: Okay, if you say so. Let's go in here.
This looked like a nice antique shop and I always love a good antique. Inside was nine other people talking secretively. There was a man hiding in the shadow of the room too.
Rosie: Oh, are we interrupting? We can come back later.
Lilith: No, darling come in. My name is Lilith.
This girl had lavender hair and spoke in an almost unnerving tone. It gave me the chills and I also notice Lachlan's hand tighten on mine.
Lilith: Guys, introduce yourselves.
Lachlan: First . . .
Rosie: Careful, Lachlan.
He take out his weapons and almost everyone in the room took a step back.
Otto: Hey, put that away. We mean no harm. My name is Otto.
Otto seemed friendly and frightened by Lachlan. He was the man in the shadows and really did not come out. His eyes were a striking blue and he had fangs. Definitely a vampire.
Lyle: And I am Lyle. Let us explain everything.
Lyle was calm and held onto Lilith. He sort of looked like a lumber-jack. A plaid shirt and a bit of dirt.
Lachlan: Better explain quickly.
Otto: Okay. Don't kill us. We are all good. As you may have figured out I am a vampire but blood is harmful to me and I can only use energy. This is my boyfriend Wes he is human.
Wes: Hey.
Magnolia: My name is Magnolia. I am a mermaid. This is Arlo and he is . . .
Before she says it, she turns to him and he tells her to go ahead. She was pretty with red hair and sparkling green eyes. Arlo seemed a bit shy and had the darkest brown eyes.
Magnolia: He is a fallen angel. Do not tell. They will kill him.
Sasha: I am Sasha and this is my girlfriend Clementine. We are both fairies.
Clementine: Hi.
Both of them looked like Wes. They all had regular blue eyes and dark brown hair.
Martina: I am Martina and I am a witch. Don't worry, I will not harm anyone. I used my powers for healing.
Lilith: As you may know, I am Lilith and I am a demon. That side of me has been hidden for a while.
Lyle: Lastly, I am Lyle. You will never see me on a full moon because I am Were.
Rosie: I am Rosie and I can see the undead and this Lachlan and you know what he does already. I need to speak to him for a moment.
Lyle: Go ahead.
I pull him off the side.
Rosie: You good? You seemed to have almost broken my arm.
Lachlan: The last time I dealt with a demon, everything got destroyed. I have never told you and this demon had purple hair just like Lilith.
Rosie: What happened?
Lachlan: It happened when I was eight.
Rosie: The year your mother went missing and your father died. The year before I met you under that bridge.
Lachlan: Yep. That year. A purple haired demon broke into my home and killed my father and took my mother. It left me homeless and on the run.
Rosie: I was on the run too. My family thought I was crazy that I could see these things so I ran at 8 years old and bumped into you a year later. And now we are here and we are together.
Lachlan: A good thing from a bad event.
Rosie: I have a feeling we need to stay.
Lachlan: So do I.
Rosie: Promise to be calm.
Lachlan: I will try.
Rosie: Hopefully.
He gave me a kiss and we turned back to the group.
Rosie: Do you have a house we could rent?
Lilith: Yeah. Are we all on good terms?
Rosie: Yes.
Lilith: And Lachlan you look familiar.
Lachlan: I guess I look like someone you know. How funny.
Spirits
They showed us to our new home all except Otto who cannot go in the sun. Our new house was a pastel blue and had a bright white trim. Now that we are alone again, we can finally talk.
Lachlan: Do you think she could still have my mother? To be honest, I have no idea of what she even looks like.
Rosie: If it is her, then yes she may have your mother still but we have to be sure.
Lachlan: We need to keep an eye on her.
Rosie: Be careful and stay under control.
Lachlan: I know.
My head started pounding again. Almost like everyone who died was at unrest and they still had something they needed to do. The room started to spin rapidly and I was losing control. So many of them surrounded me and were shouting. I have never seen so many spirts. I started to go dizzy and I fell to the ground. My image was blurred but I still could see hundreds of sprits if not thousands of them. They were all trying to tell me something but I had no clue what.
Lachlan Point of View:
She fell to the ground with her eyes searching the entire room. Her nose was bleeding again, twice in the same day and usually it is rare for her to get them. I could not see anything but I could feel them.
Lachlan: What do you see?
Rosie: They're everywhere and they're strong.
Lachlan: I need to go back to the car for a moment.
Rosie: Do not leave me here Lachlan. I cannot be alone with them, they will take over my body and control me.
Lachlan: Let me help you up.
I lift her up and her legs went shaky. These spirts are draining her energy or using it to convey a message. She is really light so I pick her up and head to our van which is still broken down at the entrance to this town. Later on, I will have someone help me push it to our home.
Rosie: They are following.
Lachlan: How? They usually hold onto one object, right?
Rosie: Unless they are tethered to this town.
Lachlan: What is holding them here?
Rosie: I have no clue but they all want to tell me something.
Lachlan: Let's hurry then.
I run toward the van and cross the towns border. Rosie looked up almost amazed at what she is seeing.
Rosie: They all stopped at the border. They are trapped here. We need to release them.
Lachlan: I agree, but we also need to stop them from entering you.
Rosie: We need to protect the house too.
Lachlan: Here put this on.
I hand her the necklace with a small, bright red heart charm in the middle of a silver chain.
Rosie: What's this for? I know you got it for our ten year anniversary.
Lachlan: It’s enchanted to protect you.
Rosie: Wonderful. We could use some Martina's herbs to protect the house.
Lachlan: Exactly what I was thinking. You cannot walk yet.
Rosie: They took all my energy and my strength but still could not get their message across.
Lachlan: Alright.
I pick her up again and head back to the antique shop to talk with everyone. The day was starting to fade away as we entered the shop.
Arlo: What's happened here?
Lachlan: Your town has so many spirits and they did this to her.
Arlo: How many?
Rosie: Hundreds or thousands.
Arlo: Can you tell me more about them?
Rosie: They are tethered to this town and they want me.
Martina: I could rid them from your home.
Lachlan: That’s why we came here.
Martina: Follow me to my house. Darling you stay here.
Lachlan: I don't know about that.
Lilith: Do you not trust us?
Lachlan: All my life I have been hunting things all because of something. It's not the fact that I don't trust you, it's the fact I cannot trust who you are.
Otto: Understandable, but we do not mean any harm.
Lachlan: I’m sure you won't but my instincts tell me something different. I don't know you so I don't know how to trust you.
Magnolia: Let him be. He has every right to worried. He has only known us for a few hours.
Lachlan: Thank you. I would love to talk more in the morning. Right now we need to rid our house and take a long sleep.
Martina: Then, I will go quickly so you could go to bed. Follow me.
I grab Rosie and follow Martina to her house. She grabs a few herbs and a couple of other things and follows us back to our house. I can tell Rosie is seeing them again because she is searching the area with her eyes. Martina finished cleansing the house and placing a few things around to clear other types of spirits.
Lachlan: Thank you, Martina
Martina: No problem, you can call me any time if there are problems.
Lachlan: Can do. See you tomorrow.
Martina: Around nine in the morning. Bye.
Martina left our house and Rosie seemed to be calmer until she would look out the window. I don't think there are any more spirts inside our home but I think they are waiting outside. I closed our curtains and we went to bed. This new town was already promising and crazy. In our first day, Rosie had two rare nose bleeds and she is being attacked by spirits and the town is full of supernatural beings that I would usually hunt.
We wake up in the morning to a new, bright day here in Four Secrets. Rosie seemed calmer today and the house seemed safer.
Lachlan: Morning.
Rosie: Morning, what are we talking about today?
Lachlan: I have to find her.
Rosie: Lachlan, you do realize Lilith is a demon much stronger than you are. And you do realize it was 14 years ago this demon took your mother. You do not even know what she looks like.
Lachlan: I have to find her.
Rosie: Let's get ready and prepared and then we confront them.
Only the Start
Lachlan and I get ready and walk out of our home.
Rosie: Remember to remain calm, there is more of them.
Lachlan: I can try.
Rosie: No, you will.
Lachlan: Fine.
We made it the antique shop where everyone was waiting because we did arrive 15 minutes late.
Lilith: We thought you were not going to show.
Rosie: No we just lost track of time.
Arlo: What did you want to talk about?
Lachlan: Yeah . . .
Rosie: There are a lot of spirits roaming around this area.
Lachlan: Exactly.
Lyle: I could not explain that. Spirits always pass on from here, there was no reason for them to stay.
Otto: Very unusual, are you sure that you saw them? Maybe it was just an illusion or you’re just crazy.
Lachlan: Are you serious? You saw her yesterday.
Lilith: She could have been acting.
I saw Lachlan's expression get angrier so I tap his hand to let him know to be careful.
Lachlan: How was she acting? You could see the weakness in her eyes, she had two nose bleeds which she does not get normally. So what you are saying is that she faked nose bleeds and purposefully drained her energy.
Otto: Well . . .
Lachlan: Well, you seemed to be interested when we came last night. Now, you are telling us that she faked it. Something seems to be a bit off here and I don't think I like it.
Lachlan has now pulled out his hidden weapons to show that he was not messing around. He does not like when people mess around with me either, he had grown very protective of me.
Otto: Please put those away.
Lachlan: I don't feel safe so they will stay. I need to protect myself and I need to protect Rosie.
Lilith: We understand that but we do not feel safe.
Lachlan: You don't feel safe? We are two humans faced against many supernatural beings. Supernatural beings that could kill us in an instant. I have never faced a demon before so I don't know how to control one.
Lyle: Calm down, you don't need to control any of us.
Lachlan: Just saying that if I needed to I could control most of you and I don't feel comfortable putting down my weapons at this moment. We would love to talk to you about the issue.
Otto: There is no issue in town, the only issue was you showing up. Issues only arrived with her, she is the issue and she is bringing the spirts here. Rosie is no longer welcome here.
Lachlan: Not going to happen, Rosie tell him what you saw the spirits do.
Rosie: We were trying to get back to our van which is half in town and half out, to stop the spirts from taking over my body. Once we crossed the border, there was like an invisible bubble around the town keeping them trapped here.
Otto: Impossible.
Lachlan: I need to talk to Rosie alone for a second.
He pulls me out of the shop urgently.
Lachlan: We need to stay here so we need to show them that they are wrong. Is there a way you could call the spirits and allow one to enter you and one to enter Otto?
Rosie: Remember the last time that happened.
Lachlan: I do greatly know what happened last time. Last time you almost died. It broke your back.
Rosie: But I will do it. Let's go back in and I can summon a few.
Lachlan: You sure?
Rosie: As sure as I will ever be.
Lachlan: For good luck.
He turned to me and gave me a big kiss. And squeezed my hand just like he would always do when I was scared. We slowly walked back inside and I handed him my necklace, the one that protected me from the spirits. He put it on his own neck as I began to call the spirits silently. No one else in here knew what we were doing. As soon as I asked, they were all here. I made them a deal. The deal was that they could have their message said to me if they helped me with my issue. They agreed and one volunteered then another to entered Otto.
Lachlan Point of View:
She was frightened you could see it in her eyes yet she still is calling them. They answered I think. A bit after she called them I saw her back bend and then crack. One definitely possessed her because her eyes changed.
Sasha: What’s happening?
Lachlan: Nothing, we are just going to show Otto how wrong he is.
Otto: These thoughts are not my own, what did you do to me?
Lachlan: Ask Rosie or whoever she is now?
Otto: Okay, Rosie what is happening?
Unknown: Rosie? Tisk, tisk you should know who I am. I trained you after all.
Otto: Cannot be you.
Unknown: Well, I guess it’s not me then.
Otto: Lachlan, I believe you but that thing possessing her is not just a ghost. It’s a dead vampire.
Lachlan: Watch her for a moment.
Unknown: She’s gone.
I run to our van and grab everything I could possibly need. Back in the antique shop, I douse her with holy water and do her normal stuff.
Unknown: Fool, do you think that will work. Watch this.
I watched as he cracked her leg. It sound like a piece of wood snapping. It broke me, there was nothing that I knew to stop this. This my fault I have no idea what to do.
Lachlan: Stop!
Unknown: Why would I? Give some reasons.
Lachlan: I don't have time for this.
Unknown: Really? I could speed up the process.
Lachlan: I will play along. Reason one you need her to communicate for everyone and the second one is that we could release you from this place.
Unknown: I still have things to do here though.
Lachlan: Any of you going to help?
Otto: No.
Wes: Otto, you know that you would do anything to save me. Poor Lachlan wants to do anything to save her. Think of how you would feel if I were up there.
Otto: Fine, you need her to fight him.
Lachlan: How do I get her to fight him?
Otto: Get her to remember her.
Lachlan: I could do that, I could remind her of sometimes we had together. Here goes nothing. Rosie, dear remember the first time we met thirteen years ago under the bridge. You were crying with having nothing and instantly we connected.
Unknown: Oh, shut it.
Lachlan: I told you to take my hand and you don't have to run any more. You did and I lead throughout the city. Remember ice-skating in that frozen pond a few years ago when you dove into the icy water to save a kitten. The kitten that we have today, Bella.
Rosie: It's me, I don't have much time.
Lachlan: Fight him.
Unknown: What have you down? This is only the beginning, you started a war that you cannot win.
I watch her body violently shake and then go still. Her eyes were not opening. She was not moving but she did have a faint pulse. I place her necklace back on her neck. Red tears made of blood dripped down her face from eyes. Blood tears.
Lachlan: Believe me now.
Lilith: Enough we believe you. What are we going to do now?
Lachlan: Leave her until she wakes, then we will know her injuries. Last this happened it broke her back so I do not want to move her.
Otto: She can stay there, it is a comfortable sofa. Everyone else but Arlo and Lachlan leave please.
Everyone left the shop and Arlo closed the blinds and locked the doors.
Arlo: Listen, if he just said that you started a war that you cannot win, you might want to take a seat.
Lachlan: The spirit war.
Otto: How do you . . . wait.
Lachlan: I learned a lot from a lot of different people. And a lot about this spirit war. It is when many angry spirits tether to one place and fight.
Arlo: Exactly. Do you want to treat her leg now?
Lachlan: I want to wait until she wakes up.
Otto: Understandable. I will leave you here then, I will be in the back room if you need me.
Arlo: I will be at the home on the corner.
They left and I sat there. I sat there until 11: 49 in the morning on the next day when she finally woke back up. I called Otto and Arlo back.
Rosie: Do they believe?
Lachlan: Yeah, they do.
Arlo: This may hurt. I have to place your leg back in place.
She takes my hand as he cracks her leg back into place. He then reached next to him to grab things to support her leg and to wrap it up.
Arlo: All good now.
Rosie: Not to be mean but I could use a shower and time to talk to Lachlan alone so I would love to go home.
Otto: Okay then, careful with that leg.
Lachlan: Thanks, we can talk more later.
I help Rosie get back home where we are greeted by Bella which we forgot to feed dinner. Rosie went up to get a shower while I feed Bella and I gave her treats to make up for loosing dinner. I think today is a movies is bed kind of day so I grab some snacks and Bella and head up.
Rosie: Whilst he was possessing me I saw his thoughts and was in his mind. He placed these images in my head.
Lachlan: Oh no. Please tell if you wish?
Rosie: Of this town getting destroyed, being burned to the ground. There was ones of you dead. Lachlan, I'm so scared. He said there is a spirit was and . . . I will lose everything.
Her body started to tremble.
Lachlan: Come on, push those thoughts from your memory for right now because nothing will happen to me, you, or even Bella. Our little family.
Rosie: Okay, I can do that. Thank you for saving me.
Lachlan: First of all, it was my fault you got possessed. Second of all, I could not imagine without you. I have been with you since I was almost nine. You are my only family.
I kissed her forehead as I turned on the first movie. It seemed to distract us both from the unknown future.
