November 16, 2021 - Ostracize
Word of the day: Ostracize
Sentence of the day: "If they ostracize you for prioritizing your wellbeing, they aren't your friends."

Daily ramble
It's been reiterated for years and years but it never truly registers in the ears until it's too late.
"If you feel uneasy around them, leave!"
It's much easier said than done. A needy soul is akin to a fly drawn to a honey laced fragrance. They seek respite in the company of others. But like the naive fly, they may end up wandering into the vices of a deceptively dressed Venus flytrap.
No form of validation is worth enduring the snide remarks from somebody that prioritizes their pride over your needs. It's been said once and it'll be said over and over again. Nobody realizes the gravity of their mistakes until the mistake has been made.
A single objectifying remark, an unwanted graze and a leery gaze all warrant caution. If you feel uneasy around them, leave!
But you might ask yourself what's being put at stake when you finally sever all loose ends. A friendship that's lasted years and others entwined with that friend too.
Pause and think about what you're really giving up. Are you actually giving up something precious to you or are you clinging onto rosy hued memories?
'Oh, but what if I'm a bad friend?'
Well, you'd be much worse going through life and wishing you were dead! If they ostracize you for prioritizing your wellbeing, they aren't your friends.
In most cases discomfort isn't a result of an overactive imagination. It's a warning premonition. Trust your visceral instinct. If you feel uneasy around them, leave!
November 17, 2021- Avgolemono
Avgolemono: a soup or sauce made with beaten eggs, lemon juice, and usually chicken broth.

The telltale serpentines of cold air and the tendrils of frost upon glass signify the arrival winter. Cozy blankets, cups of cocoa and cookies baked with care are all very effective ways to combat the creeping cold. However, sweets don't cater to everyone's palettes. Others prefer savory, salty dishes or rich umami flavors. For them, a bowl of boiling broth brings warmth just as well as cocoa and cookies.
Chicken noodle soup is a staple in many kitchens and rightfully so. However, it starts to taste too familiar after many chilly days. If you're looking to spice up your tastes, consider trying your hand at avgolemono! It's a well loved soup with roots in Greece. Eggs are beaten and mixed with lemon juice and hot broth. Then, it's heated until it finally thickens. This gives it a unique texture and flavor.
And it looks lovely to boot. It brims with a pale, creamy sheen and is dusted with delicate herbs.
