Distinct Scraps
those stamped softly
with flowing ink
of the younger old
and older young
scrappy edges
sturdy
behind boundaries
those ready to wrap
in yards of yarn
any other shredded bit
waiting to trade dots, feathers,
gently shifted letters,
within the boundaries that weather
add to social papercraft
fluttering by
Tele Visions
once humming
it has fallen silent
the television sits quietly
turned off and organized
in its wooden home
among other electronic devices
and a ephemera of media
i imagine it asleep
what if it could dream
would it consider all our watching
then imagine watching us
considering us
once humming
then sleeping
and fallen silent
Spelling Sweetness
If I could spell everything out
With chocolate chip pumpkin bread
I would do it
Simple sweetened squash snack
To bring everything together.
Unfortunately
that only works selectively
In order to know
You have to understand
All the tiles in my life
have built these scores of words.
In order to know
You have to understand
No amount of analyzing
or even well made treats
Right you when you wanted them
Will bring you someone's soul.
In order to know
you have to understand
You'll have to find the right letters
before you can spell out a dream
and taste autumnal delights.
