The Invitation
Beyond the tall reeds, in clear view sits a humble abode where an old woman smiles wide while stirring her pots of comfort food, whistling a song I long to hear.
Out of range, even when I begin to walk away, somehow her words still reach me. The message is clear.
"Come home and I will feed you. You will always have a seat at my table, a place to rest, a place to break bread with all of us, but most of all, a place to satisfy your hunger."
Of the Heart
Challenge of the Week? This is what my heart wants. I love Prose. I've been writing on here since the start of the pandemic, and the weekly challenges kept me going through the difficulties of 2020. I've become a better writer because of Prose. I love the other writers. For no other reason than to be nice, I've received excellent feedback from fellow Prosers. The challenges keep me on my toes. It's a chance to be better. I'd say the only downside is the inconsistency of the weekly and monthly challenges. Please keep them going! It keeps things interesting.
Prose
I love prose like an old lover I can't help but revisit. I do miss a couple old features. The weekly artist spotlight desperately needs to make a comeback. I also miss the option to read through a stream of people I'm following; I could at one point do this, and it made a "follow" mean a bit more. I think the loss of those two things hinder the sense of community we used to have here. That being said, Prose on the whole is fucking brilliant by both execution and intention.
The New Prose Is Still A Work In Progress, I Think
With recent changes it is looking like Twitter, verging on Instagram, and just the other side of Facebook. Too convoluted. Nothing like the "Old Prose". No center or bold. Pictures half-covered. Half the time it doesn't let you post properly. Bring back the Old Prose as an option.
Many features on the New Prose are good but there are people who use their phone to get on and last I heard there is no APP for that either yet.
Too many bugs in this, and to disband the "Old Prose" without thought to how other Prosers feel, It's disheartening.
Prose Is Awesome (But I Still Miss Old.TheProse.com)
I love having a platform for putting a wide variety of writings up for anyone that wants to see them (even if it's only 3 people), and I love that I can post a wide variety of pieces, from Bible journals to fantasy short stories, not to mention different genres that well constructed challenges inspire me to tackle. I also love reading the work of the many talented authors here on Prose. My only complaint is that I miss the old Prose site and wish it was working again. I dislike how images are covered up on the new site.
Homely, But Problematic
I've been on Prose for five years. I've made new friends, but I've also seen friends leave. The best part of Prose is the community. However Prose has a management problem.
For starters, they need to continually inform us when updates are being made and what problems are being fixed. One major problem I've noticed is that whenever someone tries to tag twenty people those people are not notified.
There challenges don't make a lot of sense either. I mean write about assassinating Ted Bundy? What?
There's more to say but my words are limited.
Hope you're listening, Prose.
Prose: Love/Hate
I’ve been here quite a while, I enjoy the challenges and the interactions I see between folks.
Anyway, Prose has given me an outlet when I want to write but am blank, Prose challenges gives me ideas.
So…. The only bad I don’t like is the app for iPhone doesn’t work now and my iPhone is my only computer. So adding pictures or any fun things suck because I’m on chrome. I just don’t know what else to do.
The most important thing is I can still write so I’m happy.
Thank you Prose.
