A Kinder, Gentler Death (Repost)
I
If Death would only tickle
Our fears could ease a little
When he comes to your bed
Would it cause you more dread
If he carried a feather or sickle?
II
And if Death could give us a smile
Spread some cheer once in a while
He needn’t bring gifts
Though he could fill the wish
Of the poor man whose pain is a trial.
III
And finally, if Death would just vary
And sometimes be temporary
If he’d let us come back
Or send signs through the black
We’d find him more complimentiary.
A couple gut punches to inspire
1.
The white sheet over the professor's face
wiped all her life's work without a trace.
I asked what she had done
the police pointed to the gun.
Oh how far she had fallen from God's grace!
2.
I gave the emaciated boy ham on rye
He took it with a tear in his eye.
After a single bite,
he gave up the fight.
And the rest became food for the flies.
The world beats and pushes and breaks
They snap you over and pull out the stakes
With dirt below and clouds overhead
The world on accident makes sure you're dead
But He'll pull you out and help you see
What the world around won't let you be
You can be inspiring intelligent and kind
You and He can have an unbreakable bind
If only you treat those around with love
He'll teach you what it's like above
God and the world are not the same
He's just and has grace and love unfeigned
He'll give you peace and a kinder heart
If only you ask and give a sincere part
Our father above can handle all things
As long as you let Him and give Him the reins
