A lovely melody

A little "Harmo gets all the credit for this one." the small note said at the bottom of the written music. Harry could only think Harmo meant Harmony, Milton's wife. Milton stayed seated on the piano bench, looking at Harry.

"So what do you think," he said, somewhat panting, the music piece he just finished playing had been a long one. Long and beautiful.

"I loved it, it was just amazing," Harry said as he looked at the music notes that Milton had written. "How long did it take you to write this?"

"The initial draft took only about four late nights, I was unable to write during the day because of teaching," Milton taught at the local middle school music class. "But, I have been making adjustments to it every few weeks. I really like it a lot. So do the kids. What do you think?" His voice quivered at the end.

"This piece of work is amazing, Harmony would have loved it," Harry said. "The sound brings so much emotion that many might find difficult to really put into words, here." He handed the music back to Milton. "You might want to copy that down into the computer before you lose the music, losing something like this would make you feel terrible."

He took the music sheets back and carefully put them on the piano, handling them as if the sheets were newborn. "I already have, even the most recent edits. I always have this fear that someone will rip it up. However, I feel like I can almost play it from memory. I got the inital tune from a dream, Harmony was in it." Tears welled up in his eyes, it had been over one year since he lost her. Cancer.

Harry comforted him, pulling a chair up next to the bench. "It is okay to cry, it must have been a lovely dream. The melody is lovely, it really shows you feelings for her," he said, giving him a slight hug.

"She was playing on a piano, she taught it to me."

“Do you remember ‘fulmination’?”

I remember when we chose that word - it was a random word we knew we would never use in daily conversation. It was after I had lost it in front of everyone, screamed, lost control. It was scary. I was scared but resigned. You were scared and you were crying.

We chose that word.

I don't know if you remember it
