unable to comprehend the lack of self worth popularly displayed

but frequently abhorred by my existence

I am my own anathema

inexplicably critical of all things I do

and amazed by the purity of what surrounds me

athlete and leader,

entrepreneur and philosopher,

revolutionary and mystic,

hedonist and purist,

republican and democrat,

artist and scientist,

citizen and politician,

lover and fighter,

Aquarian and Capricorn,

scholar and warrior,

priest and healer.

Immediate gratification takes precedence

Shredding logic

Trashing any and all well-laid plans

Becoming the inadvertent stereotype

Defining modern political thought

Or the lack thereof

Being the silver lining of the cause of New Orleans' ills is my crowning achievement

So simply standard,

Quite carefully kind,

Yet, yes, youthful,

Capable, why whine?

Significance sought,

Indifference begot,

Caustic questions,

Answers wrought.

Still, long silent,

Awoken by chance,

With no lovers mend,

Squandered vile incense,

Heart bled, an open rend.
