Drops of Jupiter
Drops of Jupiter makes all my emotions at that moment define themselves. Whether it's sad or happy, energetic, or lazy, it comes out intensely, almost painfully. My heart swells and jumps when I listen, and if I'm feeling sad at the time, I will start crying. Drops of Jupiter makes my hopes and dreams raise and soar, like I could achieve anything. Sometimes, if something is bothering me but I can't tell what, I'll turn that song on, pump it full volume, and let my feelings sort themselves out. There's something in Drops of Jupiter that makes it so I can repeat it over and over but never get sick of the tune or words. Oh yeah, that's another thing- the words. They are not about dirty stuff like night clubs and partying, it's about finding yourself, finding who you really are. That's why I LOVE this song.
Play dead by The Birthday Massacre
The perfect mix of synth sounds, dark subculture and deep lyrics. This songs subject matter stands out to me because it talks of hiding the face behind the smile and the fact that make up cannot cover up the scars of your past mistakes. I just love the symbolistic nature of this song as well as all their others.
