Do what you love
Time and time again, we are told to find our drive. Our passion. Something that motivates us. Well, I adore writing! If asked why. I'd say that writing to me takes me to a whole new universe. A different world.
Writing acts like a wheel, that I love to keep turning. I also love to read other writers creations. To write, is a form of art and life. One can't simply carry on with life, and not do what they love. May the torch of writing always burn bright.
To Express Not To Impress
When you live in the world I'm living in, a world where money and appearance speak and you lack of the two, you'd realize that writing is everything you got that is free that would give you a ticket to be heard. That's why I write to express my opinions, my feelings, knowledge, faith that can't be heard by the loud world empowered by money and beauty.
Why Write Sins of the Father?
Many folks know this story by now but the Sins of the Father series started as just this simple one-off short story for some challenge long ago. But now, for whatever reason, it just grew and grew until it was its own universe.
I loved writing the first one so much that I just had to write more. Soon more stories came about, more characters were introduced, and more prosers were reading and enjoying them. There's comedy, adventure, horror, good heartfelt moments, and interesting life lessons.
I can only think of two who've stated what I was doing wasn't cool, mainly they disagreed with it because of their religious views. Blasphemy they say! What's so blasphemous about a series featuring Satan being a family man, an archangel dating a Muslim-American woman, another archangel who's a chick and a lesbian, and most of the stories set in Hell?
But who honestly gives a hoot about what naysayers have to say? I sure don't. So this is why I write SOTF, because I like it.
I along with Lu, Carmen, Rosemary, Regan, Lilith, Scrugs, Mike, Gabi, Dominic, Legion, and the rest thank you for your support.
I Have to Write
Rarely am I disappointed in my characters. They can be mischievous, some are funny, sexy, some make me laugh while others are plain out the most evil person I've ever met. Oh wait a moment, they're in my head.
I love writing, I write everyday. It is part of my life. Some writers say they have to discipline themselves. Why? Writing should never be treated as though it is a job although I put in over forty hours a week. Why, because it defines who I am as a person. Imagine for a moment writing a story that climbs up the charts. Wouldn't that be exciting? What an adventure!
What kind of book would one have to write? I'm not a chaser. Ideas hit me, I outline, I walk and think, I see things. Sometimes after all that I discard them because they didn't talk to me. Let me not forget, I study other authors, a lot. Today is better than yesterday and tomorrow will be better than today.
I have a schedule, I know when the next book is coming out and the next one after that. In between, I write. Maybe I've got a brain tumor?
