Misalignment
Our love was doomed right from the start
The stars lined up so wrong
I'd hoped we'd never have to part
But fate sang her sad song
I want to know how this could be
How from the start I did not see
I want to know
I want to know
Why he could never be with me
Our love was doomed right from the start
Our parents had a hand
They whispered curses oh so tart
And issued their demands
Why can't love find its own true course
Sing loudly 'til its voice is hoarse
Why can't love find
Why can't love find
Those people whose lives aren't forced
Our love was doomed right from the start
My heart aches in such pain
I found love just to lose his heart
Like tears within the rain
I hope I'll win his favor back
To show him my heart doesn't lack
I hope I can
I hope I can
Make our love tight so it won't crack
[The form is a Trijan Refrain, a three-stanza poem that I find very powerful for exploring ideas.]
Their family of origin was shared, they came from the same tree, maybe not the exact same branch, but it was not too far off. They spent their childhood together, sharing everything, to a point where they seemed twins.
Years passed and their affections only grew, but they kept their love platonic, neither knew why.
yet that changed on a cold winter night when play turned into rubbing, rubbing into grinding and all that friction was starting to create sparks between them.
until the fateful moment when the fire of passion ignited. Time flew by in the heat of the heat of each others presence, but it didn't last, soon the fire withered, and not long after died.
But then again, matches aren't made to last.
Once
They had known that it was love once,
Had vowed to make it last
But now they sleep in seperate beds,
The love they'd shared's long passed .
He stood across the room from Her, watching her undress. Once he would have been
aroused by this, had taken her there and then. But, she was a different woman now.
And even worse, She was the same.
She looked up, across at Him, looking at his eyes. Once she would have seen something, would have felt her own heart quiver. But, he was a different man now.
And even worse, He was the same.
Once, She had loved His smile, but now, She only hated His smirk.
Once, He had loved Her pout, and now, He only hated Her scowl.
Once, She had loved Him. Once, He had loved Her. And they were the same people as they had been back then, and the love that they had shared had, at least once, been true.
But once upon a time wasn't here anymore, and the happy ending had always been a lie.
Their love was doomed once it had started,
It had always been their fate,
The thing they once loved about the other,
Now brought them only hate.
He looked at Her, and She at Him, both knowing it was over, that it had been for a long time now. The love they had once was gone.
He smiled a sad broken smile, and She smiled her own back.
"I love you," He said to Her, wanting it to be true.
"I love you," She said with Him, almost believing.
"No you don't," They both thought. "Maybe once, but not today."
