Extinguished Flames
It all began with a spark
that kindled her heat
eyes devoured him
smoldering and oxidizing
and burning in want.
Spontaneous combustion
ignited his inferno
her flames began kindling
their bodies exploded
sea of flames.
Their need and desire
intensified and burned
erupted wildly
curtain of fire
enveloping each other.
He ravished her darkly
her tinder smoldered
but when passion waned
puffed up in smoke
only a scorched,
parched area remained.
Their fire was out.

Anytown, D.S.A (Divided States of America).
This is insane.
Waking, bathing,
taking the train,
waiting in line,
always a pain,
coffee or tea,
paying late fees,
stressing at work,
can't have salad,
dumb, broken fork,
package delayed
means overtime,
I'm forced to stay.
Turn on the news.
Bodies are strewn.
Missed the concert.
I am unhurt.
Wrong place? Wrong time?
Fields of Meuse-Argonne
A soldier walking through that open grave.
All these bodies piled high, on one they could save
Is this what it means to be brave?
Once honor and glory was what they all would rave.
But know all that is left for them is a six foot deep covered cave.
Screams fill the clouded air
Guns mowed down everything leaving the land bear
Medical supplies running low, used clothing for bandages for which they had to tear.
More dead thrown in with little care.
Still they onward into to death’s lair.
Men tell stories of peaceful summers as a kid flying a kite.
During the night, bombs make that sky light
People here say that it is a pointless fight
But our leaders said it was right
They try to pray with all our might
In that distant dark field in the dead of night.
Cries of the wounded keep the others in fear
Thoughts of death approaching from the rear
Letters are written, but will never reach the ones who are dear
The minds of those poor souls will never be right, never be clear
This horrifying war will last for many a four year.
