Winter Wonders
red tinted yonder
tinged with faint yellow
there, in the higher skies
caress the gaze full of wonder
to let it glow
kindle a fire in the eyes
linger, as hearts grow fonder
for ardent autumn skies
that will fade away
and the last fluttering leaves to behold
will be replaced by clarity
of colder days
when snow angels fly through the winter breeze
to dance and play;
paint the sky with the untold
sprinkle the ground with serenity
and let the mystique stays
covered in cold white
with such delight
offer countless warm memories
that will stay down the road;
hold your sense of wonder tightly
for it’s not merely frozen water you see.
Winter Wealth
All our elements
fill these fields
with flowery petals
ticklish as feathers
the thrill of us each
running off the leash
in great big overcoats
fantasies sunning
across fragrant seas
through skies above
the fluff unfurling
nightlight eyes
that by evening
fires will see us
fully mystified

Fire in winter
fire when you touch my skin
fire when your lips reach mine
fire spreading in your smoldering eyes
sing to me of the summer nights,
when the cold reaches my veins
when it hurts my hands,
tell me about the sun
and the almost nightless days
whisper to me how it was
the warm breeze touching my skin,
tell me this and so much more
my scorching lover
while the Winter cold
spreads under our hearts
and under the covers
the snow falling to the ground
chilling me to the bone
clouding my vision
and making me numb...
keep me warm to all ends
with your blazing loving arms
and a burning gaze
to devour me slowly...
spread the fire my love
so we can burn together
and turn to ash
under these white sheets
and the silvery moon
with a heartless night
and a Winter's tale
setting the world on fire
in a tight embrace
feeling like we belong in Heaven
while stuck endlessly in Hell
Fire in Disguise
Splash. Splash. Splash.
Against my legs the waves splash.
So hot... no. Cold. Cold.
Numbing cold.
So cold I can't feel
Anything.
My legs are turning black,
Black with numbness and cold -
No. Black with ash.
My legs are melting away.
The waves are fire,
Lapping against my skin.
The heat...
It's too much.
It's not even heat anymore.
It's cold. So cold.
Glass
Something about the raw
physicality of ice enchants me.
Its milky opacity seems pliable
and soft as pillow down, yet is
compacted, its billions of atoms
fuzed together like burnt metal.
Midwinter ice is laid upon
gelid ground, blue-lipped and
trembling. Does it protect the
lifeless earth beneath or suffocate
it, like unyeilding plastic?
On arctic nights like this one,
I clawed the ice with blood-flecked
nails and cursed its nature.

Rainforest Winter
White is the land,
trees outlined with pillows,
mountains fierce in
their new winter cloak.
Whitecaps in the distance
look like bergs in the ocean,
a mile is between us and
I feel cold looking at the sea spray.
Tide moves slush into the river
forwards and backwards
and I feel like I am moving
though I stand firmly on the bank.
Frozen but not all the way,
rapids break through ice,
the water flows fast enough
to avoid winter’s freeze.
The lake, usually formidable
becomes a solid sheet,
smooth, impenetrable, and
allows for safe passage.
An ancient river of ice,
cerulean, turquoise, blue,
constantly moving and calving
chills the valley.
A frozen ocean in the mountains,
impassable, inhabitable,
interconnected glaciers
blanket the expanse of the land.
Soon, rain will pour from the sky
melting snow and ice,
but a chill will remain in the air until
snow falls once again.
Elements in Winter
As the year turns to winter
The elements will change.
Soon, Earth, your flowers
Will sleep pleasantly,
While your trees lose their leaves.
Water, still you wake,
But you're frozen, too.
Look how you and Wind
Combine to make all this snow.
Together, this Winter is your child.
Fire, you're needed most
To bring warmth and light
To those surviving the cold.
For this time of the year
You're no longer a force to fear.
No matter how the season goes
The elements stay alive
To bring in their force.
Art is their force of nature
As they go again for another year.
The Power of Nature
The fire burned with orange light
Reflecting off the snow of white
The snow melted as it fell
Over the forest of burning hell
Fire burned quickly through the trees
Urged on by the hefty breeze
The air filled with thickening smoke
Causing the animals to cough and choke
Melting snow then created a flood
Turning scorched earth into mud
Nature can destroy and create
The old forest is gone but just wait
When winter is gone, come back in Spring
And you’ll see many wondrous things.
