UNLEASHED
DUSTIN leaned forward in his seat and snapped his fingers. Kamina stopped reading her book & looked at Dustin.
Kamina: What? I just got to a great part.
Dustin: Oh. (smirks) Look, I have a better book that we can read..(pulls out a book of spells).
Kamina: (with a lot of concern) Um, Devin- where did you find that book?
Dustin: I can’t really remember.(scratches his chin) Hmm, ah... I found it laying next to my bed earlier, this morning.
Kamina: Okay. And you’re not in the least bit worried about it?
Dustin: Nah. Come on. Don’t be a chicken.
Kamina: (sighs) Fine. Let me first go grab a glass of Cranberry juice.
Dustin: You better hurry, or I’ll start reading the book right away.
While Kamina heads to get some juice, Dustin opens his book. He suddenly felt a chill. The room became too frigid. When he breathed out, he was able to see his breath. Then a red, fiery glowing portal began to open. From it a dark being stepped out, and it’s chains fell to the ground~ with a startling crash. BOOM! The creature stretched its arms, and once it was done~ turned towards Dustin. Dustin squealed. He rushed to the bedroom door, but it shut with a BANG right before his eyes. Dustin paused & was afraid to turn around. He gulped. Tears started to form in his eyes. He shook his head. Maybe it was all a nightmare. He felt several sharp objects fall on his shoulders. They we’re the creature’s horns!! Dustin screamed. The horns pierced through his shoulders, all the way to his back. The creature pushed Dustin to the ground with his horns.
Dustin knew this was it. And Kamina was nowhere to be seen. He rolled to one side and started crawling to the door. Maybe this time, he’d manage to escape. The creature watched Dustin crawl to the door. The moment that he was a few inches from it, the creature held Dustin’s legs~ and pulled him away from the door. The creature opened its mouth & enormous razor-sharp teeth chomped down on Dustin’s legs. Dustin at this point still had a couple breaths left to live. He tried his best to punch the creature- and push it away, his attempts at fighting the creature were all for naught.
The creature’s portal was still in the room. It glowed brightly, informing the creature it’s time of freedom was up. The thing lifted Dustin off the floor and over its shoulder.
At that point, Kamina was by the door and noticed the strange glowing red light from the room. She quickly opened the door and she couldn’t believe what she saw—Dustin being carried off into a dark portal. She screamed and ran to the portal. Her timing was late. The second she tried to reach for Dustin’s hand, the portal closed. That was the last time that she had seen Dustin. Her husband, taken, just like that by a creature from another realm.
#UNLEASHED
Getting warmer in here?
The sharp things that wait
Dark vastness,
Here in the abyssal
Where escape is fraught.
But life adapts ,
To these crushing depths:
We look carefully, turn the light
Adapt the visor, there.
We can now see it all ,
The tube warms,
And albino crabs,
And fish, that know no light,
Feeding on the heat that comes out,
There, can't you see it, the
Blackened water, belching
From unknown layers.
And... What's this?!
A little boy? Playing with the vents.
No. That can't be true.
Check the instruments.
He comes over, the child,
But my, oh god.
Do his red eyes Pierce...
