I am my children
Our names are the second thing that define us. Only preceded by our sex. We are often named before fully introduced to the world. I spared my children this injustice. I had names picked out long before my children existed and abandoned those when I knew that a child was created. Then I spent 9 months hunting. I read everything I could and hated baby name books. I know all the names, that are names, and exist as names but I wanted something more. My literary side wanted deeper names but my pragmatic partner requested equal voice in the choice. Both children were given several choices; 11 to be exact. They were allowed to be fully human for 2 days before hospital staff forced a choice to chosen. Both times, I narrowed my names down to 3 and allowed him the final choice.
My first is a warrior and the child of a warrior. He is created in my image and I stand proud. A child who could argue before he could talk and has never allowed age or size to dictate his limitations. He is strong, and wise. He was named for a fighter and a journalist. And in 3 short years, has proven to have earned his name.
My second was the child of an old man, aged in heart at birth. She came into the world a peaceful child, born on 3 gray days in the midst of winter. She is calm and watchful. Cautious and earnest and deep. Still waters run deep, they say. The depths of her soul hide a joy and rhythm that strangers rarely see. She was named after a doctor and a princess. And again this child has earned her moniker.
In a challenge that asks about your name, take a moment and consider who named you. Someone gave you life and a name. They named you long before you understood who you would be. And you are who are you because of your name.

Angela.
It means angel,
but that does not mean,
You can call me an
Angel.
but first let me tell you
that the name is not really
mine.
I'm just holding on to it.
It's true beholder is really
an Angel.
Faye.
my moms, mothers, mom.
I only knew her
for a short period.
but the stories.

remarkable.
And like my first name,
I'm only holding onto
it.
Hess.
It's origin is german.
but its simple.
So I like it.
And again,
It's not really mine.
I'm just using it.
Angela Faye Hess,
that's my name.
and I am
honored to have
it.
What does it mean?
My first name:
Gabriella
The female version of Gabriel, the messenger angel. I have been given a name to live up to, and I'm not sure I can.
My nickname:
Belle/Bella
Well Belle is French for beauty but I'm not sure if they got that quite right...nonetheless I love my nickname. I think the name sounds beautiful and it probably has a lot to do with why I love (the idea) Europe so much. It also comes from my name 'gaBriELLA'
My middle name:
Lynn
You appreciate music, art, and drama and, if given training, could excel in those fields.
Self-consciousness may prevent you from feeling at ease in positions of impromptu expression.
Desiring to be free from detail and monotony, you find it difficult to finish what you start if it does not hold your interest.
You enjoy reading and the beauties of nature, experiencing peace and relaxation in outdoor activities.
A very individual, independent person, you live within your own thoughts.
With acquaintances and strangers, you tend to be reticent and reserved.
Your friends never know whether they will find you friendly and charming or lost in introspection.
When unhappy or disappointed, you can be moody and temperamental, feeling misunderstood and unappreciated.
You will go out of your way to help others, and find it difficult to say "no" and mean it.
Others impose on your generosity at times.
You enjoy sweets and starchy foods.
(Found this one the internet and it's 100% true)
