Igne Natura Renovatur Integra
morning mists
shed serene
dew reflecting warmth
of the gentle sun
replenish the lands.
soft wind caress,
whisper songs of the shire
and green grass sway.
birds chirping, sing along
wildflowers quivering, dance along
children of the elements
chanting orisons
in a circle of life they stand
“may peace and healing spirits
be upon the lands!”
— a delight to my infinite soul.
silence..
southerly winds blow
incandescent particles
kindle fierce bright orange
roaring flame lash midair
columns of smoke soar high
crackling, sizzling octave
creating hymn of destruction
children of the earth, the arsonists conspire.
dying grass and twigs
gasp for their last breath
then shudder to ashes
i breathe them in
aching and grieving;
prodigal child of my elements
the epitome of untamed compulsion spit chorus of destruction.
while the skies
mourn its light blue
my moorland, my charred Eden
testify to the pyromaniac sins
no moral artefact of rhymes
in remnants of this inferno
the siren of wrong redemption
saddened my very core.
with the ashen skies i cry,
chanting orisons in each droplets,
in a circle of life we stand,
“may peace and healing spirits
be upon the lands!”
as the last tendrils of smoke fade away.
silence..

I am the earth, your mother... Listen...
I see the silver and the black, I see the red that slowly eats up the green
I see the gaping holes in the loving shade I gave them
To protect them, to protect my children from the brilliance of their sun.
I see the poison they mix into my life-blood, I smell the rain that burns my skin
I see them digging, digging into me
I watch them dig their grave.
But it will be my grave, too.
The sun is their father, I, their mother;
His love is fierce, but mine is gentle
And so it is I that must die by them.
Mother nature’s unwavering cheek
What have you done with my precious gift
My consecrated tenement, a senseless short shrift
Whoa to the mind deciding my beloved’s fate
The one who lit the match and walked away
The one who sits upon the green green grass
The one who flips every switch, eyes closed fast
And The all important one who signs on the dotted line
All of you, none unnoticed by me, ultimately pay the fine
For All my tears cannot put out your firestorm
You must take my wrath when it comes along
Don’t stand there idly crying feeling aggrieved
You have no leg to stand on, no air left to breathe
Spring, Once Moor
Earth; living, breathing; possession
Fields of my forest ablaze
Blood of mankind; soot and ashen
Flames lick the lands as they graze
Smoke rises; flickering tendrils
Stench of the life wasting way
Tears gather; storm against evils
Rain sheds my soul on dismay
Soil, scarred and battered, now fragile
Receives not my cries; flooded; drenched
Ash of the flora once fertile
Parched and corroded; unquenched
Bitter, where once dwelt immortal
Spring never failed, though asunder
Death, now, by fire’s example
Echoes my angst; clapping thunder
Tender and weak, will find healing
Revolutions of time, slowly yields
Bruised by the heat and once reeling
First bud of wildflowers; Moor fields
Mother Nature’s Lament
From the sky I weep
For the world I love
That is burning before me
Defenseless as a dove
The world so strong
Has been brought to it's knees
By these limitless gases
Spreading like a disease
My child is in danger
The fires are the signs
Of something much worse
That is not of my design
Yet I can do nothing
I am but an observer
And the humans that can help?
They have run for cover
The humans, they continue
To harm their own home
And they will not stop
Until they are alone
hereditary
a gift
made, not won
with love and care
with kindness and hope
a spark
bright, bare
of life and warmth
of promise and eternity
time passes;
you rise, you crumble
and get up, again and again
but what of me? what of your mother?
the gift precedes the giver,
and in your fervor you forget
that I am alone;
there will be no one to put me back together
when I fall apart.
Errant Children
I enthral your senses with colour and contour, flora lush and scented, sandy to iced terrain, wind song, bird song, sweetness and spice, an abundance of delights. And do you thank me.
I speak to you through nature and the nature of animals, but do you listen.
I reprimand you with stormy outpourings, I rise up in floods of frustration, but do you learn.
You know in your cells, your blood, the deepest regions of your brains the profound disconnection between us you have created. But do you mend it.
Mother Nature’s Plight
Scorched earth,
The plants that once
Took root there,
Burnt to nothing
The animals that once
Lived there, nesting families,
Driven to unfamiliar lands
Death, darkness, destruction,
All manner of cruelty
Orchestrated by man
Ruining my once
Beautiful lands,
They do so
Without reprimand
Tossing trash aside,
Polluting waters with filth,
Starting raging fires,
All a result of
Human laziness,
Sheer carelessness
These lands I once
Held such unwavering pride in,
Now I gaze upon them,
And see nothing
But distant memories
The resplendence of nature,
A long lost vision,
Never to be seen again
In the face of
Such a cruel reality,
I weep,
The tears never ending
Ashes to Ashes
You call me the Earth and I am your home
But I can't sustain all you people alone
I need your help, I need you to care
I don't need your trash scattered everywhere
I don't like complaining, but I have to say
You exploited and wasted my bounty away
Once I had grass, I had flowers and trees
Once I had animals, birds, bats and bees
Once upon a more glorious time
I birthed these lands and made them mine
I made them with rivers, lakes and streams
I even created you, with your dreams
I harbored and nurtured the life on my dune
I gave you seasons, I gave you the moon
And how did you creatures give back the gift?
You began desecrating, creating a rift
Where once I was whole
Now there is blight
See how the flames
Bathe the land with their light?
Flickering, flaming, destroying the homes
Of rodents, reptiles and fugitive gnomes
Rampantly, hungrily, chasing them down
Roiling and boiling and singeing the ground
Filling the air with billowing smoke
Causing my creations to suffocate, choke
With nowhere to run and nowhere to hide
Many of them have already died
Leaving their corpses all over my skin
Turning my bounty to chaos and din
Why do you do this so blatantly?
Don't you realize it isn't just me?
If I'm destroyed I can no longer strive
To keep all of you people alive.
