Abracadabra
She began to peel layers slowly – first ruddy tan, then splotchy red, then streaks of sinewy white. She felt tantalized, discovering what was under the façade of tight binding which shackled her. When she was finished, she was amazed that there was absolutely nothing there.
He no longer existed.
Bound
She squirmed, desperate for freedom. Head throbbing, mind racing, she struggled to remember, why was she bound and helpless? Nothing. No memories, only a burning need for freedom. With a mighty flail, her bindings tore. Crumpled wings unfurled, flexed, pumped to life, and carried her away on the wind, reborn.
Indelible Ink
Spring yields summer;
Thoughts of you
Fists of flowers;
Blush and blue
Fall, crimson leaves
Rain’s pounding kiss
Moon’s silver weave
Pierced cloud‘s eclipse
Season’s, hues — all syllables
But, green speaks best of you
In volumes, writ indelible
By hand, in black and blue
